WEIRD &
WONDERFUL
Recycled cycle art
in the Ozarks
By Karen Rice| OfficialKidsMag.com
Just like the kids who recycled trash for the TOSSED
sculpture contest (see story on page 38) , Tylur French,
a Memphis-based artist and a dad with three kids of his
own, believes in the power of imagination. He created
two sculptures that can be found on the Razorback
Greenway bicycle trail in Bentonville, Arkansas. The
sculptures are made of trashed bicycles and tricycles.
The bike towers are nearly 20 feet tall and each contain
between 60 and 90 bicycles, painted and welded
together. One pile of bikes is orange, and the other is
green.
The colorful bike piles sit on top of concrete bases with
working bicycle pumps for bike riders to use.
We think that's a weird and wonderful use for old
bicycles!
