July 10, 2019 www.DesertMessenger.com 11 The Salvation Army happenings FOOD • GIVEAWAYS • SHOES FREE BACKPACKS & SUPPLIES SATURDAY, JULY 27 10:00 am @ 100 KOFA AVE. Quartzsite, AZ Thanks for understanding that the thrift store is closed this month of July. We are on vacation. We will reopen the store on Thursday, August 1st at 8:00am. The Service Center of Salvation Army is available for urgent assistance with a phone call during July. We appreciate you holding your donations until we reopen. Thanks for understand the need for our amazing volunteers to have a vacation. A huge thank you to Pastor Jeremiah Holcombe and his wife. They drove our seven kiddos to camp and brought them back safely. See picture, some with tears in their eyes, as they got ready to board the van and say good bye to their parents. The campers had a fun fi lled week in Heber. The kids had a marvelous time and made friendships with children from all over the state. An after picture wasn't possible as they were exhausted when they returned on Friday. This opportunity was paid for by funds collected by our Red Kettle Bell ringers. Remember to follow our sales and events posted on our Facebook Quartzsite Salvation Army page. We appreciate your likes and comments, too. We will again this year, have school supplies and backpacks available for all children. Please stop in and ask. This availability continues throughout the year. Do not hesitate to ask at any time. Thanks! Remember that we provide adult and infant diapers for those needing as- sistance. Photo identifi cation is all that is required. You can receive month- ly assistance for adult or infant diapers. Please just ask. Thank you, Town of Quartzsite for our Community Outreach Funding for this project. Our VHS selection is being organized by fi rst letter alphabetizing. It sure makes fi nding your favorite movie much easier. Come see our new wall display of framed pictures and prints too. Looks like an art gallery. Thanks Jan for your hard work in these two departments. We received a very large donation of bed pads that are for sale at a much less than retail price. We also still have that large donation of drinking glasses. Priced less than paper glasses. These are quality Libby tumblers at almost give-a-way prices. Friends give us the blessing of belonging. Thanks to all our friends of your Quartzsite Salvation Army. You are each a blessing. Be kind, be thoughtful, be genuine. Be happy.
