2 A s a junior at Kansas State University, Regan Zaremba '16 is grateful to Bishop Seabury for the academic foundation and sense of family she experienced. She says, "The education I received has given me a leg up over other college students, specifically in public speaking and critical thinking abilities." Regan has given back to the academy by contributing to the Building on Our Mission campaign. "Being a college student in another city makes it hard to stay directly involved with Seabury. This campaign is a great opportunity to be involved while not being present." Regan says her parents were impressed with Seabury after a tour and meeting the headmaster and faculty. And the school provided countless opportunities for Regan: requirements to learn Latin and other languages led to cultural awareness; trying out arts and sports extracurriculars offered exploration in a supportive environment; and everyday Altera Familia meetings allowed communication across all grades. Having not played sports prior to attending Seabury, Regan became very involved. She played volleyball, basketball, soccer, was on the swim team, and helped start the powerlifting team. She also participated in plays and Chamber Singers. "The sense of family and community that I felt during my time at Seabury has continued after graduation. The small class sizes and open communication gave me a great chance to get to know many other students, whom I still talk to today." The impact Seabury's teachers had on Regan and her growth "has helped shape me into the person I am today," specifically regarding her college studies and future career. "Mr. Bryan was always very encouraging and motivating." Regan felt that she could do whatever she put her mind to. "He is one of the reasons I am studying mechanical engineering now, because of his support and the potential he saw in me." She also points out what a great headmaster Seabury has in Dr. Schawang. "He is welcoming to everyone and is always happy to help all of the students." Regan's commitment to Seabury's campaign is but a small way for her to pay back all that the school has given her. "I grew so much during my six years at Seabury. I hope that future students will have the opportunities that I had and make many great memories." Even as a college student, Regan says it is important for her to make a pledge. "No donation is too small; every little bit helps."
