Registration can only be made online by going to cumberland.ces.ncsu.edu. A few of the upcoming events Finger Looming Fun Children will learn finger knitting and how to work with easy-loop yarn by making a colorful scarf. Aloha Zoo and Ostrich Farm Children will have the opportunity to see over 450 animals at the educational zoo and farm in Robbins, N.C. Dairy Day Youth will learn about dairy, how milk is processed and how it is used in our food. Summer Fun T he Town of Godwin opened a new splash pad at the Willie J. Burnette Park May 31 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. e park is located at 4924 Markham St., just past the Godwin Town Hall. Splash pad hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 2 to 7 p.m. Splash pads were recently opened at the Eastover, Wade and Gray's Creek community parks. "ere was a long time when I thought this would never happen," said Godwin Mayor Willie Burnette at the ribbon cutting. "About two months ago, this was like a lake, but Parks and Recreation hauled in dirt and put down sod. I would like for everybody to come out and really enjoy this park because it's beautiful." "is is a great day for the town of Godwin and all of northern Cumberland County. Parks and Recreation did an excellent job and it's wonderful to see our Cumberland County recreation dollars going toward the splash pad addition to this park," said Cumberland County Commissioner Glenn Adams. "It could not have come at a better time with temperatures near 100 degrees all this week." e 1,500-square-foot splash pad is funded by County recreation dollars.
