50 | May/June 2019
May marks a particularly busy time at the museum, with visitors
flooding in during the 82nd Airborne Division Association's
annual All American Week, which starts May 20 this year, and
before, on and after Memorial Day. From May 18 through June
22, 800 American flags will flutter on the museum's parade
ground, part of the 12th annual Field of Honor, which is a tribute
to military service members, past and present.

Most of the ASOM's exhibit space is devoted to World War II
and, to a lesser degree, Korea and Vietnam. To create more
space for the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, the museum will have
to reshape some of its other exhibits. The plan is to incorporate
the recent history of the airborne and special operations units
without diluting or diminishing their earlier history.
