THE FORGET-ME-NOT DELTA CHAPTER OF ALPHA PHI | SPRING 2019 130 Years of Delta Chapter Excited for Many Successful Years Ahead 2 019 marks 130 years since the founding of Delta Chapter at Cornell University. Our chapter will be marking several milestones in the next few years including the 100 th anniversary of the founding of the House Corporation to purchase 411 Thurston Avenue, our home ever since. No other sorority has been in the same house as long, continuously, as we have. As we approach a century of residence at 411 Thurston, we invite you to join the vision for the next 100 years. House Corporation Continues to Update 411 Thurston The "New Wing" section of the house is approaching 60-years-old, the side wings were built in 1937, and the original main house was built in 1899. The House Corporation has undertaken many small and necessary renovations in the last several years. While health and safety are a priority, we also strive for an interior that blends current style with the historic architecture and supports the modern student. As we wrap up these urgent updates, we are developing a comprehensive long-term plan to renovate all parts of the house, including building systems. Support the Vision for 2021-3021 It's a bold invitation, but one we feel confident in for the intention is that our sisterhood is forever. We invite sisters to join and support a comprehensive plan to bring the aging structure and building systems up to date in order to create safe, efficient, and beautiful interiors that celebrate and maintain the historic details of the house. In the coming weeks you will receive a special mailing explaining our vision and specific projects. We are fortunate to have smart, supportive women in our sisterhood. We invite those who are interested in giving their time and talents to join the house corporation, we have multiple committee opportunities that include alumnae relations – please let me know if you would like to join us! We hope you will visit during Reunion and Homecoming. Visit our alumnae website http:// cornellalphaphi.org/ for updates on events and how to arrange a visit at other times. I know that when I think of my time at Cornell, Alpha Phi and 411 Thurston are always the center of my memories. I am grateful that I share those memories of the past with so many of you and continue to create new ones with our ever- growing vine of sisterhood. aoe, Susan Guarnaschelli Collins '89 Housing Corporation Board Treasurer sguarnaschelli@yahoo.com DELTA HOUSE CORPORATION BOARD 2019 President Kathryn V.
