Gamma Theta Experiences Exponential Growth
O
ur recruitment chairmen, Nick Swan
'18, Zach Lanham '17, and Calvin
Kyker '19, were hard at work finish-
ing out the spring period with 10 new members.
This brings our freshman class total to more than
40 members. The Gamma Theta Chapter has
been experiencing exponential growth since our
return to campus in 2016. We are looking to sus-
tain that growth and hope to have more than 100
active members come fall 2019. Between the
excellent support we receive from the National
Fraternity and the hard work of our recruitment
chairmen, Gamma Theta's chapter size will soon
be back to what it was pre-2016.
As our new members find their place at the uni-
versity and adjust to college life, the True Merit
values that Alpha Tau Omega instills become
more prevalent in our daily lives as productive
members of the Greek community here in Lin-
coln. We had 20 of the newly initiated members
attend the Emerging Leaders Conference in Kan-
sas City, Mo. They gained valuable knowledge
about leadership and learned a lot more about
the five vitals of ATW. Gamma Theta was also
selected by the National Fraternity to be a part
of the Pursuit Program, where we joined a few
other chapters in receiving training in the Birk-
man Method to better help us work and oper-
ate the chapter as a whole. As our seniors be-
gin their transition to life after college, we hope
that they'll continue to use the values Alpha Tau
Omega teaches.
Gamma Theta has been active on the philan-
thropic scene this spring. The chapter hosted its
annual Tau Tee-Off on April 7 and raised $3,600
to benefit the victims affected by the flooding
in Nebraska. That cause has been a common
theme for philanthropies throughout the Uni-
versity of Nebraska-Lincoln Greek community.
The chapter is already planning a philanthropy
this fall. Gamma Theta will partner with the
Epilepsy Foundation to organize a "Walk to End
Epilepsy." Reach out to Miles Morrissey '18
(miles.morrissey33@gmail.com) about getting
involved or to donate to either of these causes.
As always, I'd like to extend a great thanks to
our wonderful alumni and our Board of Trustees.
Without them, we would not be the chapter we
are today. We are making great strides in mem-
bership, philanthropy, and chapter operations.
I am proud to represent you all as president of
Gamma Theta and hope you'll stop by the house
next time you're in Lincoln.
Love and Respect,
Teddy Murphy '17
