KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY page 3 A niruddha "Andy" Rao '14 joined Delta Chi as a sophomore when three of his buddies asked him to go through recruitment with them. "We had hung out with the brothers a bunch before and decided to join because of the bond that we shared with so many of the members," Andy said. Staying involved with Delta Chi was easy for Andy as the bonds with his brothers grew stronger throughout his time with Delta Chi Chapter. As an active member, Andy made many great memories with his brothers through everything such as intramurals, I-Week, going to the Ville with brothers, Mojo's, Homecoming, tailgates, football games, and mom's days. He also served as the Treasurer "D" during his junior and senior years. "My experience as a "D" provided practicing experience in managing a budget, advising financial decisions, and learning how to articulate financial concepts and information to other members," Andy said. Outside of financial advice, Andy says that active members should enjoy their time in college and not be in a hurry to leave. Finding something you love to do so much that you don't miss college is the key to having a successful transition into adult life in Andy's opinion. He also says that to set yourself up for success you must know that everything you do today impacts your options later. Andy also says that it is important to stay in touch with your Delta Chi brothers after graduation. "We call it 'a brotherhood of a lifetime,' but it only stays that way if you are intentional about preserving your relationships," Andy said. He stays in touch with his Delta Chi brothers every day between weddings, new home purchases, volunteering on the Kansas State Delta Chi Educational Foundation, professional relationships, and staying in touch online; the fraternity remains a huge presence in his life. "Five out of my six groomsmen in my wedding were brothers who were active with me," Andy said. "My best friends and best advocates are Delta Chis." It is because of these bonds with his brothers that Andy chose to give back to Delta Chi through the Securing the Future of The Delta Chi Fraternity capital campaign. Andy says that he has been blessed to have found some success in his career at a young age and giving back to his community has always been one of his main priorities. "When I thought about the organizations that I wanted to give to, Delta Chi was at the top of my list because I got so much from the organization," Andy said. He hopes that alumni support of the capital campaign will allow other young men to experience a similar personal transformation that he experienced as an active member, and he encourages other alumni to consider giving as well. "I feel that we have a responsibility to pay forward the support that we received as active members, and one of the best ways to do that is to support the capital campaign," Andy said. He believes that the goal of the campaign is to continue to enhance the experience of Delta Chi brothers so that the chapter can continue to produce high-quality men, leaders, and future professionals. Outside of his support of Delta Chi, Andy owns a financial planning practice in Overland Park with Prudential Advisors where more than 25 of his clients are Delta Chi brothers. He and his wife, Kelsey, live in Leawood with their puppy, Luna. They just moved into their first home last year and have really enjoyed the first year of being married. Andy also enjoys playing tennis, golfing, video games, and traveling. He can be reached at andyrao21@gmail.com.
