Our chapter's unique history has had a direct influence on our current housing position. Below is a brief summary of our chapter's identity at K-State: Purchased the first fraternity house on Fairchild. Aer two decades of memories, the chapter suffered from low membership and lost its charter. e chapter house was sold to another fraternity. A new group of K-State students vowed to make Delta Chi an active chapter once again on campus. Chapter members occupied various apartments around town, including College Heights, Royal Towers, and Tattarax. Purchased an existing chapter house on 508 Sunset Avenue, the first permanent residence since the 1970s. e chapter officially closed aer the large house led to problems, and the chapter was unable to fill the property. 508 Sunset was sold to a sorority. Purchased residential house at 1904 Grandview, which houses four of the chapter's active members. Answering the Need of Our Undergraduates To hear from our members today, we asked the undergraduates, "What will this home mean for the Delta Chi Chapter?" From the numerous responses we received, three words stand out: Brotherhood, Recruitment, and Stability. All three words represent areas of the chapter that members feel strongly will directly benefit from the housing project. Members shared the following reasons why they want the Delta Chi House Corporation to pursue new housing options for the membership. Brotherhood "is housing project is important for the future of our chapter because we need a place to identify with and call our home. Living under one roof will only foster more brotherhood and chapter growth." - Jack Dunfield '20 Recruitment "Not having a house that a significant number of members can live in is leaving us out of a market of potential members that we cannot reach otherwise. rough recruitment we see oen men want to live in a physical facility. Getting a new structure can solve this issue and provide new opportunities to engage potential recruits." – Jake Anderson '20 Stability "A new facility that is large enough will finally be a home that we can call our own. Currently, we do not have a home that really sets us apart. A new place would allow us to have a more prominent presence on campus and in the community." – Collin Schmidt '20 Why Now? Over the last 15 years, the Greek community at Kansas State University has been evolving, much like the campus itself. With significant investments being made in on-campus facilities, our peer fraternities have seen the need to mirror the university by investing in their programming, facilities, and alumni relations. Since 2010, the following fraternities have made major investments in the hundreds of thousands to over $1 million to each of their chapter facilities: 1981 1992 1998 2008 2014
