Always Alpha Phi 4 T his spring we have so much to look forward to! In February we celebrated "Heart Beat Week" to raise awareness for women's heart health. Other philanthropic work this semester includes our Alpha Phizza late-night dinner, our second annual Alpha Phifa soccer tournament, and RAMS (Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis). Omicron's favorite part of RAMS is Rock-It, the RAMs dance competition. Some of our women danced to raise awareness and the rest of us were in the audience cheering on our sisters! Alpha Phi Leadership Conference Our new executive team had the opportunity to attend Alpha Phi's Leadership Conference in Atlanta at the beginning of February. It was an engaging weekend of leadership, learning, and networking with sisters across the southern and eastern regions. We feel blessed to bring back newfound knowledge to our chapter. Some highlights from the weekend include keynote speaker Dr. Lori Hart's message, challenging us to lead from a different perspective amidst the many challenges fraternity and sorority life faces today, as well as participating in a meaningful and relevant alcohol education program called the Buzz. Dr. Hart is a professional speaker and Director of Educational Initiatives for Holmes Murphy Fraternal Practice. We also were part of the exciting reveal of Alpha Phi's new high ideals of membership: character, innovation, generosity, and sisterhood. The redefinition of values to ideals allow us to honor the original language found in our Ritual and Creed. Recap of Fall Highlights I would like to go back to fall semester briefly to share more Omicron highlights! Soon after Bid Day we took a weekend trip to Kansas City for our annual sisterhood retreat. Catherine Argo '16, our past outstanding VP of Programming and Member Education, spent her summer making sure this weekend would be special for Omicron. We are so lucky to be one of the only chapters on Mizzou's campus to travel and have this amazing bonding opportunity with our sisters. The weekend consisted of shopping at the Country Club Plaza, roller skating, and visiting the National WWI Museum. The highlight of the weekend was when Alpha Phi cheered on the Royals at a beautiful night game. Sisterhood retreat is one of our favorite events of the year and everyone looks forward to the memories being made to cherish forever. Red Dress Gala Welcomed 350 Guests Our shining moment of the fall semester was our annual Red Dress Gala. As Director of Philanthropy last semester, I worked with our talented Red Dress Chairman Hailey Hasek '16. It was extremely rewarding to see our vision come alive and watch everyone enjoy the evening that took lots of blood, sweat, and tears to pull off. This year we proudly welcomed 350 guests to raise awareness for women's hearth health. This was the biggest Red Dress Gala Omicron has ever hosted and we have high hopes for future years. We also were able to hold the Gala at a new gorgeous venue, The Kimball Ballroom. The night was filled with music, elegant speeches, delicious food, and a huge silent auction. Thanks to our wonderful alumnae, parents, and members, we were once again able to make a sizable donation to the Alpha Phi Foundation, benefiting women's heart health. As Alpha Phi women, it is a privilege to raise awareness for a cause that affects so many. As my term begins this spring, I would personally like to thank all of you for your support and dedication to Omicron. Without you we would not be able to accomplish all that we do. I am proud to be able to carry on the legacy that all of you started before me!
