Collegiate Corner Undergraduate Members Thrive on Mizzou Campus 5 | KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA A s always, Theta Chapter had a busy start to the new year. In January, we were lucky enough to add three new mem- bers to our sisterhood. We held a winter-themed Bid Day to celebrate their arrival; they seem to have adapted quickly to life as Kappas. On March 16, the three new members were initiated, and we are so excited to be able to share with them all of our favorite Kappa secrets. Theta Chapter prioritizes academics year after year, as scholarship is one of Kappa's values. Last semester, we were able to stay above the all- sorority average, and our chapter GPA increased by .03 points. A total of 35 members earned a 4.0 GPA and 94 of our members earned above a 3.5 GPA. We set a 3.0 GPA requirement last semes- ter and we are excited to see how this standard will motivate our members to continue their hard work in the coming years. We have already set big goals for our philan- thropic work this year. As the weather starts to warm up, we will begin sending our women to volunteer at Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center for the spring session. I know our mem- bers are chomping at the bit to be reunited with their favorite riders. Our Philanthropy Chairman has been working tirelessly to coordinate our Reading is Key event for this semester as well. We recently decided to collaborate with two lo- cal elementary schools, Blue Ridge Elementary and Mill Creek Elementary, rather than just one. Though this is a small change, we hope that the increase will allow us to touch the lives of more students and parents in the Columbia area. The members of Theta Chapter remain involved on Mizzou's campus as well. Just this semester, we have had three members appointed to Home- coming Steering Committee, one selected for Madeline Carson Buffalo Grove, Ill. Madalyn Michael Festus, Mo. Ariana Santilli Buffalo Grove, Ill. Tour Team, and another who was selected as a recipient of the Mizzou '39 Award. We could not be prouder of the hard work that our members put into not only Kappa, but also the university. Please feel free to reach out to me with any ques- tions, comments, or concerns in the next year. Without the continued support from alumnae like you, we would not be where we are today. You are always welcome at 512 E. Rollins; do not hesitate to stop by—we would love to show you around. Loyally, Margaret Matteson '16, Chapter President kkg.thetachapter.president@gmail.com On February 2, Theta Chapter welcomed new members Maddie Carson, Madalyn Michael, and Ariana Santilli home to KKG at their winter-themed Bid Day. Theta Chapter sent five Chapter Council members to Kappa Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas, in February.
