PAGE 3 The DelTa Chi eDuCaTional FounDaTion YOUR GENEROSITY A total of 101 "A"s, representing 93% of our active chapters and colonies, attended the 2019 "A"s' Academy in St. Meinrad, Indiana, January 18-21. The "A"s' Academy is a values-based leadership program that allows the "A" to identify, develop, and leverage his strengths as the leader of his chapter or colony. Through a curriculum that focuses on leadership development and goal setting, our undergraduate leaders returned home, armed with confidence and new insight prepared for the challenges, changes, and successes they will face as the chapter/colony "A". As a result of participating in the program, our "A"s gained a greater understanding of problem solving and are more prepared to lead their chapter or colony. In a review of the attending "A"s: • 1 in every 4 attendees increased their ability to describe the optimal state of their chapter or colony and develop a plan to address their needs. • 97% were able to identify transferable skills that they learned as a result of their participation. • The most notable of these skills are communication, leadership, problem analysis, decision-making, confidence, and negotiation. The "A"s' Academy has been a signature leadership program for the Delta Chi Fraternity since 2006, and has educated over 1,500 "A"s. The Delta Chi Educational Foundation has granted more than $1 million in financial support, from individual donors like you. When you give to the DCEF, you are directly impacting our ability to send brothers to the "A"s' academy, which has a trickle-down effect to the rest of our chapter members. Thank you! 2019 "A"s' Academy—Another Successful Year! Our "A"s learn more about themselves and their leadership styles to better lead their chapters and their fellow brothers—skills they take with them well beyond their college years. S hortly after becoming a Founding Father at the Riverside Chapter, Louis Bonilla, Riverside '13 learned how far brotherhood stretches, and how close to home it is already. "I'm at my first Founders Day dinner, and run into my 8th grade teacher (Don LaPlante, Southern California), who is a brother!" Louis gives his time in leadership roles with the Riverside and L.A. alumni chapters and is the "BB" for San Bernadino. "Brotherhood is everything… me and my guys arrived a day early for Convention. With no place to stay, Aaron Otto, Kansas State '98 and Ron Martin, New Haven '87 took us in and gave us a place to sleep without a second thought. You hear stories of how amazing brotherhood is, but you don't really know until you experience it!" Louis said. "When I travel for work, there are Delta Chis everywhere to hang out with!" On giving to DCEF: "I was never the donating type, but it's a good feeling to give where I know my money is benefitting our brothers and being utilized the right way." Louis is a Trustee Society donor—to join him please use the enclosed envelope or visit deltachi.org/give to make your gift today. Brotherhood iS everything to LouiS BoniLLa, riverSide '13
