Six years ago now, they jumped at the opportunity to work for themselves, and began to create their own unique burger selection for their new restaurant, Angus Jack. They named it after Jean's late father, Jack, and went wild with all the deliciously different ways they could customize a burger. One thing that sets this restaurant above the rest is their commitment to their gluten-sensitive patrons. Ian's dad was diagnosed with Celiac Disease before Angus Jack was born, so the Cairns wanted to be inclusive with their menu. "We figured," says Ian, "why create a restaurant where not everyone can eat?" They even offer a vegetarian black bean burger that is delicious in a whole new way. They dedicated a separate section of their kitchen to preparing gluten-free (GF) items; from the exclusively gluten- free bun toaster to a whole entire fryer, they are earnest in their approach to gluten-sensitive service. Try their GF fried chicken or GF fried pickles, they are as delicious as they are allergen-safe! Despite the belief that gluten-free food is less than delectable, or even boring; Angus Jack has made it their mission to have a menu that's accessible and enjoyable for everyone. "We hand-form our Angus beef patties and hand-cut our fries daily," says Jean, "and we don't cook it until you order it; so you're getting the freshest, most delicious meal every single time."
