3 Delta Kappa Epsilon On November 17, brothers from the 146th through 155th classes of Mu gathered at West Point to cheer on the Raiders! Strong showing from the tight-knit 147s! Mystic circle A brother dead and brothers mourning Fill the heart with grief today, And the earnest grasp fraternal; Speaks, "a dear one passed away." Yes, no longer we shall greet thee In the halls of DKE, Yet thy name in sweet remembrance Graven on our hearts will be. We have parted, Brother, parted, As we trust, to meet again, In a full unbroken circle, Free from sorrow, grief and pain. J. Kevin Murphy '47 entered Mystic Circle on July 15 at 91 years old. Kevin served in the U.S. Navy and earned his L.L.D. in 1950 from Fordham University Law School. That same year, he started his professional law practice, specializing in litigation and general cor- porate matters. From 1957-76 he served as president and CEO of Pu- rolator Courier Corporation—the first international overnight deliv- ery service. He then served as president and CEO of Trailways CTS Services from 1977-85 and later joined the Gabell Group as manag- ing director. In addition to his professional career, Kevin served on numerous boards and was married to the love of his life, Mary Alice Passman. The couple had one son, Glenn; a daughter, Elizabeth; and grandson, Kevin. Richard M. Gache '54 entered Mystic Circle on October 9, 2017. Richard was a member of the varsity golf team at Colgate University and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-57, where he rose to the rank of captain. He and Helen Joan "Jody" married in 1956. Richard was a certified financial advisor for 26 years with Ameriprise Finan- cial and lived in Miami, Fla. He and Jody had two children and three grandchildren. AluMni news_______________________ Mark D. Trottier '60 lost his wife of 53 years, Danielle, in January. Mark played golf with Bobby Armata '59 in April and says "We both stumbled around the course remembering better days. We will, however, do it again." Mark wishes his fraternity brothers health and happiness. He lives in Adams, Mass. Alumni Update Rex Messing '17 is working at a fly fishing lodge in Bristol Bay, Alaska, called Newhalen Lodge. He spends June through October guiding clients on rivers around Lake Illiamna and the Alaskan Coast for rainbow trout, grayling, arctic char, and salmon. Rex and clients fly in float planes on almost a daily basis, land wheel planes on beach- es along the coast, drive jet boats and float rafts down pristine rivers, and see eagles and bears everywhere. "It is quite the lifestyle! It's been an excellent season so far, but has been very cold and very wet. Most importantly though, the fishing has been great and our clients are leaving happy, so that's all that really counts." The photo below was from early August with a client and shows a Sockeye salmon that is preparing to spawn. The fish was caught on the Copper River. To fish the stretch of river they were on that day, Rex strapped rafts to the floats of a plane, landed in a lake at the top of the river, rowed through several rapids, then repelled the rafts off of two waterfalls before even casting a line. "We had spent most of the trip chasing rainbow trout, and accidentally caught this sockeye towards the end of the day." Photos from Rex's exploits over the year are uploaded to his Instagram account @rexmess. Bust Out Your Maroon and White!
