Those that have served in all branches of the armed forces are very special individuals that deserve our thanks. It is because of this special group that we continue to enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted. The Neal Senior Center is paying honor to those who have served in the armed forces on Thursday, November 8 th , with a special "Veteran's Day Luncheon." The luncheon will include a meal, along with some special activities. They include a perfor- mance from the ROTC Color Guard Team, a special presenta- tion from public speaker Donald Schenck, along with musical entertainment. To conclude the program, there will be recogni- tion of all veterans by their branches of service. All veterans are invited to the event and it is free of charge to them. All non-veterans and anyone else who would like to attend are invited to the event for $8.00 per person. Lunch service will begin promptly at 11:00am, with the program begin- ning at 11:30am. Reservations are required and must be made by Thursday, November 1 . To make a reservation, please contact Mary Hamrick at 704/482-3488. Let's revive "The Carolina Singers" For many years, the Neal Senior Center has been the home of "The Carolina Singers", a musical group of vibrant and talented people. They have entertained at many local events, churches and nursing care facilities and have made a name for them- selves. They've been a dedi- cated group with the great gift of music. In recent months, due to illness within the group, they have not been able to continue. The Neal Senior Center is looking for someone who has had experience in music direc- tion and for someone who can play the piano. In addition, the group welcomes anyone who would like to join the group to sing! If you can sing or even if you don't think you can, the group would still love to have you! If you have had experience in music direction, piano play- ing or singing, please contact Daniel Dedmon at the Neal Senior Center at 704/481- 7387. Please provide your name and a phone number where you can be reached. You will be contacted about the area of interest you have and how you can be made a valu- able part of this talented group. So, let's revive this talented group and again, share the gift of music with everyone! Many of you know that I will be moving soon. I just wanted to tell you all how much I have enjoyed working with each one of you. You all have a spe- cial place in my heart. I have learned and grown so much over the years. You have had such an impact on my life. I know you have also had an impact on the Senior Center and will con- tinue to do so. November 7th, 2018 at 1:00pm will be my last volunteer meeting. Hope you can all be here to welcome the new volunteer coordinator and it will be a good time for her to get to know you, too. Thank you again for 12 wonder- ful years! Sincerely, Lori Livingston C O R N E R C O R N E R
