Mrs. Rivera was preced- ed in death by her parents, Severiano Horta and Carmen Cruz; her husband, Felix M. Rivera; and two grandchil- dren. She is survived by four sons, Felix Rivera, Jr. of Grover, Gerardo Rivera of Puerto Rico, Alex Rivera of Jacksonville, NC and Thomas Rivera of Shelby; four daugh- ters, Catalina Rodriguez and Carmen Rivera both of Buffalo, NY, Eugenia Rivera of Cherryville and Francisca Rivera of Jacksonville, NC; and seventeen grandchil- dren and numerous great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A Rosary Service will be held at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelby. Burial followed in the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery. Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family. SHELLIE GRIMES RUSH Ms. Shellie Grimes Rush, age 41, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2018. Ms. Rush was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Carolyn Dowell Grimes. She is survived by her children, Zachary Rush and Jacob Rush; father, Donald Grimes Jr.; sisters, Leslie Grimes, Dana Grimes and Heather Grimes; and brother, Donald Grimes III and wife, Nikki Robbins Grimes. MARY "CORNELIA" ESKRIDGE PUTNAM Mrs. Mary "Cornelia" Eskridge Putnam, age 70, of Shelby, NC, passed away on October 13, 2018. Mrs. Putnam was pre- ceded in death by her par- ents, James David Eskridge Sr. and wife, Pauline Poole Eskridge; and her sister-in- law, Lark Eskridge. She is survived by her husband, Dan Putnam of Shelby; one son, Daniel Putnam of Shelby; and one brother, Jimmy Eskridge of Shelby. Funeral Services were held at Cecil M. STEVEN KEITH MELTON Mr. Steven Keith Melton, age 68, of Shelby, NC, passed away on October 13, 2018. Mr. Melton served our country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Melton and Sara Bridges Melton; and by two sisters, Ruth Bright and Evelyn London. He is survived by his wife, Gay Helms Melton of Shelby; step-daughter, Gay Waynette Goodson of Greensboro; two sisters, Carolyn Luckadoo and husband, Charles of Rutherfordton and Ann Russ and husband, Wayne of Cherryville; and three brothers, David Melton and wife, Thelma of Bostic, Billy Melton and wife, Evelyn of Forest City, Jerry Melton and wife, Ann of Shelby.
