Hank has often wondered where life might have taken him had no one been there for him when he faced some of those academic challenges for the first time. It was the guidance of his fraternity brothers at the Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega that Hank credits for making sure that he went on to be successful. "I came from a small school in Dale, Oklahoma, and I didn't have very good study habits because I was able to ace everything without studying. I was the first in my family to go to college. ATW helped me with my study habits," Hank said. "Although I didn't make great grades, being a part of a fraternity put me on the path to where I could succeed in college and afterwards." After graduating from OSU, Hank began a career in insurance sales before moving to Louisiana to work at the Bank of Bernice. Hank moved up the ranks throughout his 14 years at the bank to attain the role of president, but sought out another career after it was bought out by another company. Hank has felt more at home with his current occupation as a cattle and timber farmer where he has utilized his agricultural business degree. "When I was in the bank, I loved the customers, but some of the bankers that I worked with weren't that nice. I missed the customers when I left," Hank said. "With farming, I'm down there by myself and take care of what needs to be done and am able to adjust the day's schedule according to what arises at the farm, whether it's dealing with cattle, forage, timber or repairing equipment. My wife and family are there to help as well. You never know what the day will bring, but we're doing fine and treasure the rewards of taking care of the family farm." Along with farming, Hank enjoys the outdoors and attending all Oklahoma State home football games with some of his ATW brothers. Hank appreciates that his wife, Margeann, has helped keep him in touch with his ATW brothers through their annual Christmas letters. "I really enjoy traveling, hunting and camping. I was a scout master for 14 years," Hank said. "That's not a very high-paying occupation; however, the greatest reward has been seeing the kids as grown men stop and tell me how much the scout trips, my leadership and time meant to them." Just as the scouts have expressed their gratitude toward Hank, he has similar sentiments for the op- portunities that ATW has given him. Hank has continued to stay in touch with brothers Dick Shep- herd '65, Wiley Cook '65, James Dirickson '67, Tom Jordan '63, Jeff Ackerman '67, Tim Smith '67, Ray Borgman '63, Bob Scott '66, David White '69, Jim Stewart '67, Gary Rock '65, Bill Roswell '66, Bob Roswell '68, Bill Hall '63, and many others. "They have become my second family," Hank said. 2 OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY Executive Council Brothers at Oklahoma State University's 2017 Homecoming.
