When calling, residents can ask for assistance from reputable and vetted relief agencies that may assist with services such as cutting fallen trees, tarping roofs and removing debris such as drywall, insulation, flooring, furniture and appliances. All services are free and completed by volunteers who provide the tools and equipment necessary to complete the work. Service, which is based on the availability of the volunteer agencies, is not guaranteed. Community Resource Directory For information about food, clothing, shelter, insurance or questions about FEMA assistance, view the Community Resource Directory available online at co.cumberland.nc.us. 2-1-1 Call 2-1-1 or go to 211.org to be connected to information and resources. 2-1-1 is a free, 24/7 hotline, available in over 180 languages, that provides information to individuals seeking community resources like shelter, food and water, recovery support and other needs. Cumberland Disaster Recovery Coalition (CDRC) For local assistance or to volunteer, organizations and residents can contact the CDRC at Help@CDRCNC.org or 910-302-8601. ey can also attend a CDRC meeting, held every Tuesday from 4:30 - 6 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 1424 Morganton Rd. Disaster Recovery Resources T he State of North Carolina and FEMA have opened a Disaster Recovery Center at the Cumberland County Department of Social Services, 1225 Ramsey Street. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. e center offers in-person support to individuals and businesses in the counties included in the North Carolina major disaster declaration for Hurricane Florence and the subsequent floods. Recovery specialists from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the state and other interests are at the centers to talk about assistance and to help anyone who needs guidance in filing an application. Homeowners, renters and businesses should register for disaster assistance before visiting a recovery center by: Visiting DisasterAssistance.gov. Calling 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585). Using the FEMA app, available for Apple and Android mobile devices at fema.gov/mobile-app. Texting DRC and a zip code to 43362 (4FEMA). Standard message and data rates apply. Disaster Recovery Center Open at Social Services One-Stop Early Voting Begins Oct. 17 One-Stop early voting for the general election begins Oct. 17 and runs through Nov. 3. One-Stop Early Voting Locations and Times C itizens who want to take advantage of early voting, but are not registered to vote, may do same-day registration during One-Stop early voting if they provide acceptable documentation. e registrant needs to present or show a document that lists current name and address in Cumberland County.
