Veterans in La Paz County who need a ride to their hospital appointments at the Phoenix VA hospital can take advantage of a free service from the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) chapter in Lake Havasu. The DAV has been operating a shuttle service from Lake Havasu to Phoe- nix VA for many years. Stops are along SR 95 and include Parker Dam, Parker, Quartzsite and Vicksburg Road and I-10. To take advantage of this service, you must have an appointment at the hospital prior to calling the DAV and it must be a morning appointment. The van runs every Monday and Wednesday. Due to legal issues raised ear- lier this year, DAV can no longer take veterans to "off-site" appointments into the city of Phoenix. This is a statewide decision, not a local one. Anyone wishing to make an appointment, or has further questions, please call the DAV offi ce at 928-855-0356 between the hours of 9:30 AM and 1 PM on weekdays, or call anytime and leave a message on voicemail. by Herbmama There are basically 2 types of nervi- ness...relaxing & stimulating. Most times, in today's society many of us want the relaxing kind and these are the types I will focus on in this article. Relaxing nervines relax & benefi t the nervous system! Plain & sim- ple! They are calming. Then there are the ones that are stronger and have more of a sedative effect on the nervous system. There are also the ones that have an analgesic effect... reduces pain, also called anodynes. We will attempt to sort through all the ones that are available and what kind of effects they might have on the human body!! So fi rst off, we have the analgesics: chamomile, hops, jamaician dog- wood, pasque fl ower & wild lettuce. The tonics include: chamomile & skullcap. In past articles I have mentioned & explained what a tonic is, so keep that in mind! Then we have the ones that are strictly nervines: passion fl ower, wild lettuce, pasque fl ower, hops, skullcap & chamomile. Now the sedative list is bigger, re- member, these are stronger: passion fl ower, hops, skullcap, chamomile, pasque fl ower, wild lettuce, valerian and California poppy. So do you see a pattern here??? One herb can fall into more than one category and when you are trying to decide on a blend, it's a good idea to know what herb will do what!!!! It can be confusing for the newbie or even for us that have been doing it for ages..... This information is not meant to treat, diagnose or cure any type of disease or illness. For more infor- mation, contact Herbmama at 580- 490-1770. Be sure to 'like' us on FaceBook or visit our website www. herbs-4-health.com Greetings to all, we would like to thank all of our Winter Visitors for coming back each and every year and also to remind those of you who reside in RV/Mobile Home Parks to please assist your Park Manager by giving the information needed for their park register. Also, any travel trailers, 5th wheels and/or mobile homes (referred to as "units") remaining in Arizona through the majority of the year are subject to personal property tax un- less, they carry a current Arizona License plate. Another reminder, when selling a mobile home or travel trailer take the time to go to the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles with the buyer and have your name removed from the title. Too many times, this does not get done and leaves the seller with all liability. The Buyer almost never inquires with the Treasurer's offi ce to see if there are any taxes due on the trailer before they purchase it. Taxes will always follow the trailer in question. Take the extra steps and protect yourself, you'll be glad you did. Notify the La Paz County Assessor's Offi ce with any changes such as, if your Mobile/RV/Travel Trailer is destroyed (make sure you obtain a demo permit), new owner- ship, new address, or new location of the unit/space # to keep your re- cords current. Other issues and concerns that have been brought to our attention, are the winter visitors that leave their units here for more than 6 months in La Paz County as per Revised Arizona Statute, Section 42-19153, all Travel Trailers or Recreational Vehicles remaining in the State of Arizona for a period of 6months or more, must carry current Arizona license plate if your unit is titled in the State of Arizona and either carry current Arizona registration or be place on the personal property tax roll. When our appraiser's go do fi eld reviews on a park and fi nd any units that are not on the tax roll, or are not registered, we will pick them up and place them on the tax roll. Below are options for keeping your unit in the State of Arizona for more than 6 months: 1. You want to keep your out-of-state license plate. You need to bring us a copy of your unit's registration to add your unit to the personal prop- erty tax roll. 2. You want to register your unit in Arizona you can: a. Register your unit with the De- partment of Transportation, receive a license plate document, provide your park with a copy of the docu- mentation so that they may add it to their park report, and pay the State of Arizona the appropriate taxes each year; or b. Register your unit with the De- partment of Transportation, do not get a license plate (if you won't be moving the unit), then bring a copy of your title to our offi ce to place your unit on the personal prop- erty tax roll and receive a personal property tax statement from La Paz County each year. To all Park Owners/Managers, for those of you that have been following the guide lines of the Arizona State Statute, Section 42-19154 sending in your monthly park reports faithful- ly on time we want to "thank you". When sending in your Park reports could you please take the time to up- date the name of the contact person and phone number on your report? "Special thanks" to the parks that always provide our offi ce with up- dated maps and making our offi ce aware of all current changes. Remember if your unit is left here in La Paz County then it must be regis- tered here. Ask yourself what is my intention? The bottom line is what are you going to do with your unit? If your unit is going to be left here in an RV/MH park then you must put it on the Assessor's tax roll. As always if you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our offi ce at (928) 669-6165 and we will be happy to assist you. Until next time. . . . Anna and Staff
