Rosenstiel '82 Dave Jensen '18 Exemplifies What It Means to Be a Theta Chi Theta Chi would like to send a special congratulations to Dave Jensen '18, graduating this year in business management and leadership. Dave stands out as being one of the most involved brothers. While there are far too many to list here, notable activities and accomplishments during his undergraduate tenure include: • Student Body President (2017-18) • Interfraternity Council Man of the Year (2017) • Interfraternity Council Secretary (2016-17) and Recruitment Director (2016) • President of the College of Business Dean's Student Advisory Council (2016-17) • VP of Student Body Speaker of the Assembly (2016-17) • Homecoming King (2016) • Founding Member of the Student Alumni Association • Philanthropy Chair for Phi Chi Theta Business Fraternity (2015-16) • Homecoming Coordinator for BU Activities Council (2017) • And of course, multiple positions at Theta Chi (winning Brother of the Year in 2016) We managed to catch up with Dave shortly after graduation to talk about his experiences and his plans for the future. What was your favorite part about your involvement with Theta Chi at Bradley? My favorite part about being involved was meeting new people. I would say that 90% of the school knew me. One of my biggest strengths is remembering people's names, faces, and details about their lives. Showing people you care about them is so important, and that's why I think I was looked up to at Bradley. It was really nice to get the chapter's name out there. Since Bradley has such a large Greek population, everyone's first question is 'Are you in a house?' Once I started to really become involved, people would associate me with Theta Chi. We always talk about ways to get ourselves or our name out there, but that's the best way. Make friends with people and tell them you're in Theta Chi. It's definitely something to be proud of. If anything, what would you change about your time at Bradley? I wouldn't change anything about my four years at Bradley. It was a perfect time. I am the biggest advocate for getting involved, because you can learn just as much outside of the classroom as you can in. My extracurricular activities taught me countless things I can use for the rest of my life. It makes job interviews a breeze, and they give you something to talk about in any setting. Because I was involved in such a wide variety of things, I could always find some way to rope my involvement into a conversation. Oftentimes, that would help get others involved because they heard or saw how much I loved my organizations, and they would gain interest. One of my main goals at Bradley was to get others out of their shell and to help every other student have the same, if not a better, experience than I had there. Which of your extra-curricular activities did you enjoy most? I enjoyed serving on the executive board of Theta Chi because, even though I lived in the house, I was rarely home (I was so busy). Being an executive officer focused my attention to be around the house and the guys more. Theta Chi helped foster relationships I know I will have for the rest of my life. What are your plans after graduation? My motto I live by is 'Everything happens for a reason.' I'll miss the college life, but most of all, I will miss not being so close to all of my friends. But, I'm excited for my next chapter. I have owned a small car detailing business for about five years now, so I'm still at school, detailing a bunch cars for Bradley professors/staff/administrators. I head home to detail more cars and then I start full time at Enterprise in mid-July.
