DePauw Phi THE I N D I A N A Z E T A C H A P T E R O F P H I D E L T A T H E T A FALL 2018 N umerous DePauw Phi Delts returned to campus in early June to celebrate our 150 years on campus. Every seat was filled at The Inn at DePauw ballroom as Phis gathered to laugh, catch up, and share stories from our past. Those not present to defend themselves about tall tales bore the biggest burden. We were graced by the attendance of emcee Ken Owen '82, who welcomed us all, kept the program moving, and inspired us with stories of DePauw successes. John Gee '71, featured in this newsletter, offered the invocation. Current undergraduate Chapter President Drew Morrison '19, yes, "Morrison," gave an uplifting report on the recruitment, academic, and campus involvement wins of Phi Delt. This past year, we saw the Chapter grow to 102 members, rise to second place in grades, achieve another top three finish in the Little 5 bike race, and have participation from about half the Chapter in seven DePauw varsity teams. In a very moving ceremony, pledge Brothers Bob Quast '85 and Rem Fairlamb '85 formally recognized the decades-long volunteer work of Darrell Johnson '85. A plaque honoring "DJ" was presented at the dinner to make sure Darrell remembers how much all of us appreciate his dedication to our Fraternity. Our brothers who graduated 25, 50, and even 60 years ago were presented milestone pins marking the occasion! At the dinner, an offer was extended, for all who care to volunteer, to advise undergraduates in areas including, but not limited to, programming, recruitment, management, careers, academics, or brick and mortar issues at the Chapter House itself. Brothers, this offer remains open as we need not only more, but also new voices to keep the Chapter's prosperity intact.
