2 THELAMBDA LETTER Bond of Fellowship What Lambda Chapter means to biLL hunt '66 D uring recruitment, finding the right brotherhood is all about people you meet and the relation- ships you build. Bill Hunt '66 was no exception. He was encouraged to attend recruitment func- tions by his late brother-in-law, John Biddinger '62. Little did Bill know, his one decision would lead him to a quality brotherhood that would positively affect him for life. "I remember Steve Krall '63, who was just finishing his term as Consul, was a huge influence on my decision, which I have never regretted." Favorite memories include witnessing the construction of Homecoming floats by the Berkey broth- ers, Little 500, and Sigma Chi workshops. Although many brothers are no longer able to participate in alumni events today, they live on in their brothers' memories. For Bill, Les McIntire '66 and Bob Scott '66, who gave their lives in the line of duty, will always remain a part of his life. "Bob's nickname was the Great Blue Heron and I frequently see one on my walks in Indiana and Florida, so I always think of Bob and Les as our high-flying brothers!" The uniqueness of Lambda Chapter's bond was even evident to those outside of the Chapter. Bill fondly remembers two Indiana University athletes visiting the Chapter House. "I recall them saying how much they envied the comaraderie we had and they wished they had been Sigma Chis." These lifetime bonds only strengthen over time if alumni choose to take advantage of opportunities to reconnect. Bill encourages brothers to reach out to one another, plan gatherings, and to visit the Chapter House. To undergraduates, he reminds them to value the unique contributions of each mem- ber in the organization and to remember these qualities as an alumnus. "I wish I had known then that the experience of brotherhood and leadership would form the founda- tion for my career and my life. I will never forget the Jordan Standard and how it has served me over these 55 years since I first memorized it. Helping younger brothers feel the love we as alumni broth- ers have for those best days of our lives will encourage them to make the most of this life-changing experience." Bill thanks his Lambda brothers for giving him such an everlasting experience. "In Hoc Signo Vinc- es!" He lives in Indianapolis, Ind., and can be reached at billhunt@huntcp.com. D ue to the generosity of over 30 alumni, Lambda Chapter was able to complete and plan for much-needed improvements to the Chapter House. Along with a new roof, summer maintenance projects included re- pairing and sealing the parking lot, landscape maintenance, and window replacement. Without continued support from our alumni and the dedication of our undergraduates, the high quality of our Chapter House would not be possible.
