alumni.oxepsilon.org Save the Date - 110th Anniversary of Epsilon Chapter On Saturday, March 16, the active Brothers and the EBA will be hosting the 110th anniversary of Epsilon Chapter. e event will be hosted at Union Station in Worcester, the same venue we used for the 105th celebration. More information is coming as we work out the details. For now, mark the date on your calendar, start planning flights and hotels if needed, and reach out to the Brothers from your era to encourage them to attend. e consensus from the 105th was that it was an incredible evening for everyone who attended—so much better than a stodgy high school or WPI class reunion. With your presence, the 110th will be all the 105th was and more. Save the date and start making your plans! e summer of 2018 will be great for 85 Salisbury St. In addition to the yearly cadence of remodeling three Brothers' rooms, the Chapter House will receive brand-new windows throughout the whole building. e new windows will cut down on heating and cooling costs, have functional locks, and they might just be a little less frustrating to open. ey will also kick-off the Epsilon Building Association's goal of a complete remodeling of the exterior envelope of the Chapter House. Siding will likely follow in the summer of 2019, pending funding. As the Chapter House gets older and endures the wear and tear of an active fraternity, new remodeling projects become crucial for keeping operating costs down, recruitment up, and the actives Brothers safe and happy. e Chapter in the 2017-18 academic year has done an outstanding job remodeling the Alumni Room and the second-floor commons (Gentlemen's Commons) with brand-new floors, furniture, and fresh coats of paint. ese improvements were done on the Brother's own time and with the active Chapter's budget. e Epsilon Building Association is also committed to the renovations of all Brother's rooms and other aging infrastructure of the house. ese improvements are costly, but with the support of our alumni community, we can continue the momentum we have been building over the last few years. ese continued improvements by the Chapter and the Epsilon Building Association will give Brothers and alumni alike a glimpse into the future of the eta Chi Epsilon Chapter House. Across the country, there is increasing pressure to justify why fraternities and sororities should continue to exist on college campuses. eta Chi is partnering with the Greek Alumni Council (GAC) to get organized. Let's get ahead of the game and work with all interested organizations on campus. Together, we can identify ways to more effectively extol the virtues of Greek life and share the positive impact on our members, the campus, and the community at large. Let's team up with our campus partners to brainstorm the best ways to get the word out to the planet and build an action plan to execute. Successful implementation will mean we never again have to answer the frequent question, "So, what is this thing about Greek life?" or perhaps more importantly, "Why should I ever consider joining?" If you are interested in participating in the effort, please send an email to James Melvin '85 at jmm2562@gmail.com. e effort will be ramping up at the beginning of the academic year in September.
