In Memoriam IRENE LOUISE ROMMEL-HAYES After a long hard battle with can- cer, Irene Rommel-Hayes, long time Quartzsite resident graduated from this life to the next life on June 22, 2018. Born November 4, 1947 in East Orange, Essex County, New Jer- sey, Irene grew up in Hollywood, Florida where she graduated from Miami Edison High School in Mi- ami, Dade County, Florida in 1965. She worked as a Bank Teller, a Bank Customer Service Clerk, and an Ad- ministrative Assistant for and Envi- ronmental Company before retiring to Quartzsite. Irene moved to Quartzsite in 2000 where she lived at Hassler's RV Park, Crawford's RV Park, and fi - nally found home and friends in JR's RV Park. Irene was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held several call- ings over the years. She had a zest for life, and faith that could move mountains. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Ernest and Meredith Frances (Richter) Rom- mel; her older sister Meredith Ann (Rommel) Cole and brother-in-law Ernest Albert Cole Jr. She is survived by her husband Ernest Hayes of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas; Father-in-law Dub Hayes of Moberly, Missouri; nephew Ben- jamin Cole of Florida, and a mul- titude of friends in Quartzsite. All who will miss her deeply. Irene was an avid reader and loved books of all kinds. She also enjoyed making wire wrap jewelry, and wire wrap greeting cards. She was an an- imal rights advocate and had volun- teered with Quartzsite Paw Power for quite some time. A friend to all, a heart of gold, an ear to lend , or a shoulder to cry on, Irene was always there for friend, foe or stranger. Her generosity, compas- sion, and love for everyone was an example of a true Christ-life life. Irene was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, Life Member of the USO, and volunteered for such or- ganizations as Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Operation Grati- tude, and the Wounded Warrior Project. Her family and friends would like to thank River Valley Home Health and Hospice for their professional, loving and tender care of Irene over the past six months. Irene will be buried in the Hayes family plot in Moberly, Missouri. Colorado River Funeral Services, in Parker, Arizona are in charge of all arrangements. A memorial service will be planned for later in the fall. In lieu of fl owers or cards, please consider a donation to River Valley Home Health and Hospice, 1713 Kofa Avenue Suite G, Parker, AZ 85344. www.rvhhh.com.
