2A – Daily News – Tuesday, May 4, 2010 Community people&events Movie fundraiser Kelly-Griggs directors, guides and members con- tinue their commit- ment to protect and restore the 1880 house and the Vic- torian Collection. So much has been done the past 40 years and before, beginning with the purchase in 1965 from Ann Kelly. The directors are very proud of recent accomplish- ments, including a good part of the stone and mortar foundation has been replaced; a new security system throughout has been installed; upstairs and down- stairs HVAC units replaced; complete attic insula- tion installed; cleaning or repair of clothing, tex- tiles, clocks, western and Native American items; partial landscaping has been improved or redone; gazebo re-roofed and repainted; proper computer inventory is nearly complete; insurance is in place. To celebrate the 40 years since opening to the public, the Kelly-Griggs House will participate in the Magic of the Movies Series at the State Theatre. A screening of "The Money Pit," rated PG, starring Tom Hanks and made possible by a donation from Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, will be shown on May 7. Lobby activities begin at 6:30 p.m., including photos and paintings of the Museum House for sale. An opportunity raffle will be held and the history of the house and the Kelly Guides will be featured in a photo display. All community members are encouraged to show support and enjoy a Friday night out at the State. Tickets are $5, available at the door. The event is an opportunity to raise awareness of this very impor- tant non-profit that is open for students, tourists and residents to learn more about Tehama County histo- ry during the Victorian Era. For information regarding museum memberships or to arrange a tour, call 527-5895. Send a tax exempt donation to Kelly-Griggs Museum c/o Trea- surer Eric Frey, P.O. Box 9082 Red Bluff, CA.96080. The directors wish to thank merchants, members, the State Theatre and the Daily News for continued support.
