The Lyre Letter 2 W e've had a wonderful last few months here at Gamma Zeta! At the beginning of February, I had the pleasure of attending Leadership Academy in Indianapolis, Indiana, with my fellow execu- tive officers Vice President of Finance Kat Anglemyer '16 and Vice President of Facility Operations Katie Laxson '16. We had so much fun getting to meet sisters from across the country and learned valu- able leadership skills we could take back to the chapter. Semifinalists in Flag Football Last fall our members had a great time cheering on our flag football intramural team, which made it all the way to the semifinals! We en- joyed supporting our softball intramural team this spring semester. Our chapter members also participated in study nights once a month at one of our local coffee shops, Bluestem Bistro. Over $2,000 Raised for Crisis Center In March, we hosted our second annual Donut Let Love Hurt event to raise money for the Crisis Center Inc. here in Manhattan. The event consisted of fun donut-themed games like donut twister and a donut ring toss, a photo booth, and of course, plenty of donuts to eat. We had a great turnout and raised over $2,000 for the Crisis Center! Representing ACW for the Purple Purse Allstate Foundation Auction This semester, Gamma Zeta was also chosen as one out of 25 chapters from headquarters to participate in the Purple Purse Allstate Founda- tion auction. The Purple Purse organization is dedicated to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and is partnered with Alpha Chi Omega and the Allstate Foundation to raise money and awareness. Our chap- ter received a grant and a free purple purse designed by actress Kerry Washington, which was auctioned off at our Mom's Weekend this spring. The Foundation matched up to $500 raised for the event and all the money went to the Crisis Center. Looking Forward to Fall We ended the year celebrating sisterhood at our Lyre Ball formal host- ed at Lazy T Ranch, and we cannot wait to be back in the fall! Gamma Zeta has many exciting events planned for the fall semester, especially recruitment. We are thankful for the continued support of our parents and alumnae who make all of this possible.
