Southern Gospel Concert Union Southern Baptist Church will be hosting a free Southern Gospel Music Concert fea- turing 2010 Two- Time Southern Gospel News Dia- mond Awards Nominee Mike and Darla Cornell, at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Bidwell School Cafeteria, 1256 Walnut St. in Red Bluff. Mike and Darla collectively have been in the music min- istry for nearly 50 years and they realize that the ministry they have been entrusted with is not about accolades and notoriety, but changing lives and ministering to the broken- ness of people in this world. For more information call Pastor Wheatley at 840-6177. Walker at Cowboy Sunday The Orland Evangelical Free Church will host its sixth annual Cowboy Sunday on May 2. This year’s program will feature Charlie Walker, country music artist and speaker. Charlie is one of the Pacific North- west’s top Christian Country artists. The program goes from noon to 6 p.m. A barbecue tri- tip lunch will be from noon and to 1:30 p.m. A bluegrass concert and cowboy services will begin at 1:30 p.m. The junior rodeo will begin at 3 p.m. Admission is free, lunch is $5, at the Verboom Ranch, 6058 County Road 11, at County Road DD. Regional gathering First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 1421 Marin St., Corning, will welcome the Northern California-Nevada Region of the Christian Church Thursday, May 6. The fourth man One of my favorite Bible stories is the account of three men, who dis- obeyed a command to bow down to worship a crazy king’s statue. As a result, the three were thrown into a flaming furnace, heated seven times hotter than ever. Those who did the throwing, immediately died from the heat. The king was shocked to see four men walking among the flames unharmed. The king shouted, "Didn’t we throw in three? I see four men! The fourth man looks like the Son of God!" (Daniel 3) Scholars have debated several Bible passages where it appears that the Lord Jesus Christ presented Him- self in bodily form to certain individ- uals long before His incarnation. (Genesis 14:8) (Genesis 17) (Joshua 5:15) (Dan. 3:25) The Bible is filled with stories and illustrations that elu- cidate the character, and the mission of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, but none more enigmatic than these pre-carnational stories. In Matthew, He is the Messiah. Bodily. In I and II Thessalonians, He is our Soon-Coming King. In I and II Timothy, He is our Mediator between God and Man. In Titus, He is our Faithful Pastor. In Philemon, He is a Friend, that Sticks Closer that a Brother. In Hebrews, He is the Blood of the Everlasting Covenant. In James, He is the Great Physi- cian. In I an II Peter, He is the Chief Shepherd, who soon shall appear with a crown of unfading glory. In I, II, and III John, He is Ever- lasting Love. In Jude, He is the Lord, Coming with Ten Thousands of His Saints. And in Revelation, He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords." To this sermon, I add- search the scriptures and discover that Jesus Christ, He is the Risen Lord, who loves you. Christian Poets Guild seeking contest entrants A $1,000 prize is offered to the last poet standing in a contest sponsored by the Christian Poets Guild.
