The honor is given to young alumni who have excelled in their careers and proven to be productive, engaged members of society. Katie, who graduated from Purdue in 2008 with a bachelor's in political science, accepted her award at a ceremony on Thursday, September 7. She currently serves as the agribusiness strategy manager for Ice Miller LLP, a law firm in Indianapolis, and is involved with the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series, American Legion Auxiliary, the Women's Giving Circle of Bartholomew County, Indiana 4-H, and The Policy Circle. Congratulations, Katie! We also congratulate Sally Watlington '57, who was honored at the 2018 Salute to Women ceremony on Tuesday, March 6. Sally was named a Woman of Wisdom at the event, which is hosted by the YWCA of Greater Lafayette. Women of Wisdom honorees are those who have contributed to the Lafayette community in a meaningful way, and have improved or added value to the lives of others. We are proud of you, Sally! O f the many perks Anne Stone Curosh '08 enjoyed as part of her AXΩ experience, some of her most treasured are the memories. "I had so many from my time in college as an Alpha Beta that it is hard to pick just one," she said. As an active member at Purdue University, Anne enjoyed numerous activities and events with her chapter sisters. Among her favorite were Sunday brunches, studying for finals in the dining room of the Alpha Beta house, and Frisbee Fling, the latter of which was the chapter's spring philanthropy event. "It was so much fun because we were the coaches for the teams," she recalled. It was in that house and during those years that Anne begin build- ing some of her strongest bonds with women whom she would continue to know and love long after college. "I was motivated to give to the Celebrating Our Past, Securing Our Future centennial campaign because I cannot imagine my life today without the support of my Alpha Beta sisters." Anne hopes to see other women build similar connections with their chapter sisters, and donate to the campaign to ensure that doing so would be possible. "My best friendships were formed at 851 David Ross Road and I am so thankful for those women today. We have been together for the fun times to celebrate, like weddings, but have also been there for each other in the hard times." Anne is a strong believer that the support of Alpha Chi during the highs and lows of life is what defines true sisterhood. After finishing her bachelor's degree at Purdue, Anne became a chapter consultant for AXΩ Headquarters. "I was able to con- nect with more sisters from chapters across the country, which gave me an amazing, comprehensive view of our sisterhood," she explained. After completing two years of traveling work for Alpha Chi, she moved to Indianapolis and settled back in with many pledge sisters who had also moved to the area. With fellow sisters nearby, Anne finds it easy to keep in touch. Plenty of her chapter sisters have had weddings in recent years, which have served as built-in reunions for the women. "We always plan an annual reunion as well, with smaller weekend trips in between." Anne, who was introduced to her (now) husband, Kevin, by one of her pledge sisters, remembers joking with other women during recruitment about having found their future bridesmaids through AXΩ. "I really did find mine there," Anne said. "Four Alpha Chis stood next to me on my wedding day in August 2017!" You can connect with Anne at stonea588@gmail.com.
