UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA | THETA GAMMA CHAPTER 3 Our Needs and Opportunities W hile the Theta Gamma experience is certainly more than the bricks and mortar of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a significant role in the development of our sisters and as a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. Built in 1954, with renovations in the 1980s, 1611 College has been a part of Theta Gamma's legacy for 64 years and it is time to expand to cater to our larger chapter sizes. It has become clear we must make a major investment in our chapter house if we are to remain competitive, provide a quality living environment, have large enough common areas for the entire Theta Gamma Chapter to enjoy, and provide a safe place for women to live. KEEPING OUR SISTERS SAFE The safety of our 320 collegiate members is of utmost importance to the Theta Gamma House Corporation; we must offer a safe and up-to-date living facility for the women. Much like our personal homes, our chapter house must be a safe haven that instills confidence in our members and their parents. With the unpredictable weather that impacts our state, we must provide a storm shelter for our members to ensure they have a safe space available. SUPPORITNG CHAPTER GROWTH The women of Theta Gamma are as involved on our campus and in our community as ever. The collegiate members need additional space to host group events in the chapter facility. There is not enough square footage to support the large chapter size. The House Corporation has plans to expand the dining room and kitchen to support our 320 members. SETTING OURSELVES APART While Theta Gamma continues to attract some of the top women, we do not want to lose women to other sororities that are renovating their facilities. We must also compete with the amenities offered in newly renovated on- campus residence halls and off-campus apartments. For Theta Gamma to remain a premier sorority at the University of Oklahoma, we must renovate and expand our facility to attract the quality of women we pride ourselves on.
