Keeping Close with Kappa Alpha Χ Ω 3 From Recruitment Chairman McKenna Dome '17 Kappa Alpha has already began gearing up for fall's recruitment week in so many ways, from attend- ing Greek events to planning workshops! Greek Experience in February was an awesome opportu- nity to educate potential new members on Greek life and show off our beautiful home. We also held two recruitment workshops in April. They consisted of teaching the freshmen what goes on behind the scenes of recruitment and getting a little head start on preparation for recruitment week in August. We are also getting very excited about the fun activities we have planned for work week! From Director of Social Events Reagan Sheffield '17 So far, we have had a great semester full of fun social events. We kicked off the semester with our spring date party, Cirque du Chi O! This circus-themed date party encouraged everyone to come out of their shell and show off their artistic abilities by creating the perfect costume! In April, we had our annual Shotgun Wedding. This is always a fun event where we pair with a fraternity and one of their senior brothers "proposes" to a senior Chi Omega sister. This year, Lambda Chi senior Frank proposed to our lovely Shauna Jones '15. It was a '70s Funkytown theme, which did not disappoint! We were super pumped for a fun evening with an even better "wedding," while also getting to know the men of Lambda Chi! This spring, we will also hold our formal, in which everyone brings their best date in their best dresses. It should be a great semester for Chi Omega full of awesome date par- ties and events! From New Member Educator Alyson Stewart '17 The weekend of February 2-3, 38 new members were initiated into our Chapter. We could not be more excited to have these wonderful women officially a part of Kappa Alpha! Our model initiate this year was Angela Gaggiano '18. Angela is an animal science, pre-vet major from Chicago. She was voted on by the active members of Kappa Alpha to represent her pledge class, because we be- lieve she embodies Chi Omega's six purposes in her everyday life. During initiation weekend, Chi Omega alumnae were able to watch their daughters, nieces, and friends get initiated. It is always very special to have alumnae come back to the Chapter and reminisce on their time as an active member. Following initiation, we had a brunch at the Kansas State Alumni Center to celebrate the new initi- ates. We cannot wait to see the impact these new initiates have on our Chapter, Kansas State and be- yond. Looking ahead, Bid Day planning is underway. Our theme for 2018 is "Pop Art!" Bright colors and lots of glitter will welcome the new members on bid night. The banner committee and Bid Day committee are working hard to make sure we will have everything ready for August. We are already excited for our next new member class to get here!
