ODDS & ENDS Maine mall sacks Santa Residents put ribbon on after rudeness complaints burned-out Pa. house SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A mall in Maine has sacked Santa Claus after children and parents complained he was rude, grumpy and wouldn't even let one child sit on his lap. Officials at the Maine Mall in South Portland say they're looking for a jollier Santa and hope to have him in place Thursday. Jessica Mailhiot and her 6-year-old daughter, Chantel, went to see Santa this week. They tell WGME-TV he was rude and wouldn't let the girl sit on his lap when they said they didn't want to buy a $20 photo. Chantel says when she asked Santa for an American Girl doll, he replied she'd get an ''American football.'' When the mom posted her story online, others shared similar experiences. The station contacted the Santa, but he didn't want to comment. Check Out our online PENN HILLS, Pa. (AP) — Some residents of a Pittsburgh suburb have gift-wrapped something they hope will be gone by Christmas: a charred and abandoned house that burned nine months ago. Amy Davis tells WPXI-TV that residents put a big red bow on the house next door to hers, so Penn Hills officials will get moving on tearing it down. The house burned in March. Residents say it's unsafe and an eyesore, and that they fear it could harm their property values. Davis says gift-wrapping the house ''was done in jest to bring light to a situation where there's no humor at all.'' She says the fire frightened her and caused $8,000 worth of damage to her 100year-old home. Municipal code enforcement officer John McCafferty tells the TV station he just got approval to tear down the home. 'Yard Sale Map' Updated Thursday afternoon – for weekend Yard Sales! NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder's office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call 714-730-2727 or visit this Internet Web site www.ndsc orp.com/sales, using the file number assigned to this case 11-02600-US-CA. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale.
