SPRING 2018 SigEp CA Psi Journal SIGMA PHI EPSILON t CA PSI CHAPTER t PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY California Psi brothers take pictures at the Malibu Pier for fall formal. Building on Our Foundation California Psi Institutes and Re-Energizes Successful SigEp Programs R eading our first-ever spring newsletter, you will discover that our chapter e-board and Alumni and Volunteer Corporation (AVC) have already made significant progress in advancing our new five-year plan and chapter scorecard in a relatively short period of time. The hard work that began late last year has led to many substantial developments to help live up to our legacy and vision. BIG PLANS FOR WAVES WEEKEND Central to our plans was identifying existing programs that provide great value to our fraternity and then re-energizing them. First and foremost, we are bolstering our rituals as well as brotherhood development and study abroad retention strategies. Not only will these efforts further strengthen our active membership, but they will provide a solid foundation to help launch our chapter's Renaissance of Brotherhood Program—which will take place during Waves Weekend 2018, so mark your calendars for October 12-14! REVOLUTIONIZING RECRUITMENT Recently, the chapter rolled out a new GPA Standards Program. Early returns look extremely promising, and we expect to build upon this momentum by rolling out a sustainable Mentor Program later this year. We will continue to revolutionize recruitment on campus by reinvigorating our Balanced Man Scholarship Program in the coming months. PURSUING A PHILANTHROPIC FOCUS Perhaps the deepest sense of pride that I feel, and I know you will share, is our chapter's new philanthropic focus on helping youth organizations. Our strategic partnerships with the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and a variety of local and national youth organizations will continue to grow and provide more opportunities for alumni involvement. SUPPORTING THE ALUMNI NETWORK For first-time readers, the goal of this biannual newsletter is to better enrich our alumni, volunteer, and active member network like never before, as well as share ongoing progress on our plan and scorecard. With your support, our storied chapter will make history again. There are many ways you can get involved with California Psi events and reconnect with the chapter. First, please ask your brothers if they received this newsletter and direct anyone who didn't to provide their information via our website, sigepavc.org. Second, in addition to our website, please like our pages on Facebook, @PepperdineSigEpAVC, and LinkedIn, linkedin.com/ company/sigep-avc, to receive updates on future events and other ways to engage. Third, planning has already started for our 25th anniversary celebration, which will take place in fall 2022—it's going to be epic! Please contact us via our website if you are interested in getting involved.
