Delta Gamma page 3 Doing Good the Delta Gamma Way Undergraduates Achieve Academic and Philanthropic Success B eta Kappa Chapter has had a spring semester full of sisterhood events, positive programming, and success after being named KU's chapter of the year. Members are achieving great things academically and we've had fun sisterhood events, study nights, weekend brunches, and social events to reward ourselves for our hard work. The executive board's goal is to help members thrive and become the best women they can be. Study Points System Is a Success Beta Kappa achieved a 3.35 fall 2017 Chapter GPA. Up 0.5 from the previous semester, we credit this to hard work from our members and the new scholarship program that was implemented last fall. Instead of study hours we have study points. Members earn study points by doing things that are outside of their academic routine, such as going to office hours or getting help at the writing center. Beta Kappa Hosts First Cheesy with ΔΓ Last fall, we hosted Anchor Splash. The week consisted of penny wars, anchor man, "spot a ΔΓ," banners, videos, anchor slam, percentage nights, and a swim meet. We donated 100% of our proceeds to the Delta Gamma Foundation. This spring, we hosted our first Cheesy with ΔΓ and sold $5 tickets for all-you-can-eat cheesy appetizers. We raised more than $5,500 and 205 people attended! Members Enjoy Sisterhood Events This February, we held a number of sisterhood events. The first was a KU basketball watch party at the Chapter house! We enjoyed pizza and cookies and all watched the game together on the big-screen TV in the kitchen. We also held a spin class, taught by our very own Anna Cohen Landis '02! Members enjoyed completing this tough workout together. Our spring new member class consists of seven women, who were initiated on April 18. Jorey Hart '16 has loved getting to know and educating the new members this semester. Beta Kappa Maintains Leadership Presence Members of our Chapter are extensively involved on campus, and multiple members serve on Student Senate, in Panhellenic positions, or as officers in other student organizations. Mattie Carter '14 was elected student body vice president last spring and is finishing her term. Four of our members will be serving as fall 2018 recruitment counselors. Maeve Colling '15 serves as vice president for Panhellenic. Our Chapter is excited to continue working on our core values of sisterhood, philanthropy, and scholarship this year. One of our goals is to maintain a 3.35 spring 2018 GPA. We are grateful for all the support we have received from our alumnae this past year, and look forward to working with you all in the future!
