5 Alpha Chi Omega Chapter Eternal Kitty Thomas Wilkinson '55 entered Chapter Eternal on November 16, 2017, at her home in Springfield, Mo. Kitty was a loyal Alpha Nu alumna, serving on the house corporation board for many years. When the Zeta Sigma Chapter at Missouri State University was established, she supported that chapter and played a large part in their growth and success. Mary Jo Ryan Trokey '05 entered Chapter Eternal on February 2, 2018. She was 32 years old and lived in St. Louis. Alumnae News Barbara Beck Beeching '48 has turned her M.A. and Ph.D. dissertation into a published book. The book is titled Hopes and Expectations: The Origins of the Black Middle Class in Hartford. Barbara lives in Bloomfield, Conn. Email: bjbeeching@gmail.com Amorette Sackreiter Haws '66 has retired after 30 years of teaching. She and Bill spend most of their time travelling and recently returned from Hawaii. They will be going to France and then spending the summer in Steamboat Springs, Colo. When in Columbia, Amorette is a docent at the MU art museum. Son David is a computer engineer in Baltimore and married. Son Brian teaches English as a second language in Japan. He and his Japanese wife have two girls, Emma and Tia, who speak English so well you would think they were from Missouri. Email: 900richmond@gmail.com Sue Noyes Martin '66 retired in 2013 after 30- plus years in accounting and finance, a career path resulting from an MBA in accounting, not her fashion merchandising degree. She volunteers through Altrusa International and has been catching up on reading, needlework Alumnae Update Members of the Mid-Missouri Alumnae Club celebrate ACW Night Out and MacDowell Month by mak- ing glass pendants on February 12 at Village Art Studio in Jefferson City, Mo. Email: othersue2013@hotmail.com Susan Veidt '71, who retired in February 2018 as regional president of Fleishman-Hillard in St. Louis, was inducted into the St. Louis Media Hall of Fame in March. Inductees were selected for their significant contributions to print and broadcast journalism, digital media, advertising and public relations by the board of directors of the St. Louis Media History Foundation. Susan helped guide the growth of Fleishman-Hillard into one of the world's largest communications agencies. She has led teams serving major clients since 1986 and spearheaded numerous public relations campaigns, such as "Change Your Clock, Change Your Batteries" for Eveready Battery Co. Congratulations, Susan! Pamela Harrison Debandt '81 celebrated seven years with her business, Ginger & Mary Ann Boutique, and announced that they have donated more than $7,000 to local charities since opening in 2010. Jennell and her husband, Keith, live in Fulton, Mo., and have two children, Kyle and Rhian. Email: jennell.austin@gmail.com Jillian Collins Brownell '00 is a teacher in the Independence, Mo., school district working at the same elementary school as two other Alpha Nu sisters, Anna Curran '13 and Ashley Timmerman '17. Jillian and her husband, Ryan, live in Blue Springs, Mo. Jillian has two children, Eden (6) and Ellison (1). Email: j.a.collins1@hotmail.com Amanda LaBrot '11 recently won an Excellence in My Market Award (EMMA) from the Southeast Emmy Awards for breaking news coverage. The awards are open to television markets ranked 77th or smaller in size and winners are automatically entered into the upcoming regional Southeast Emmy Awards. Amanda is a reporter and weekend anchor at WTOC TV in Savannah, Ga., and has only been at the station since July 2017. She received the award for a story completed in the first four months of a new job. Amanda also serves as the recruitment advisor for the Kappa Sigma chapter at the University of Southern Mississippi. She was working at a TV station in Hattiesburg, Miss., where USM is located, when she accepted the role. Since it is the only Alpha Chi chapter in the state, she is happily staying on remotely because alumnae are few and far between or very recently graduated.
