Jessica Lebel's presentation on hurricanes was a clear indication of her fas- cination with weather. Add to that her inter- est in math and science, it was pretty much inevitable that she would eventually become a meteorologist. Cut to 2018, Jessica has returned to her hometown of Denver, Colorado, where she reports the weather at Fox 31 and Channel 2 News. "To be back home on TV as a me- teorologist and do the forecast for my home city and state is so amazing," Jessica said. "I haven't been in the industry for too long, but in that time I have covered a variety of stories, from wildfires, blizzards, and tornadoes. I've always had an interest in weather and science, so I knew something in this field would be perfect for me. It's really challeng- ing, and I love it!" Jessica studied atmospheric science with an emphasis in news media fore- casting at KU. Her sisters at Sigma Kappa helped keep her focused and inspired during her undergraduate years. "I was surrounded by intelligent women who pushed themselves to be their best, and that was extremely motivating. They encouraged me to study hard and pursue this major. Those bonds helped me pursue my dreams. "I hope that young women continue forming strong bonds and friendships at Sigma Kappa. As an out-of-state member, I found a home at Xi Chapter, and I want it to remain a place where everyone is comfortable and can grow in college, excel in academics, and build lifelong friendships." Jessica has met many Sigma Kappa alumnae in Denver through the Pan- hellenic community, not to mention alumnae from other sororities. She plans on visiting campus this summer when she returns to the Kansas City area to reunite with some of her KC Sigma Kappas, and will be in Claire Breslin's ('11) wedding this fall. Jessica and Claire were room- mates at KU. You can reach out to Jessica at jlebel1810@gmail.com. Chapter Officers Haley Adams Shawnee, Kan. Ania Bernacik '17 Olathe, Kan. Hailey Bernard Kearney, Neb.
