A: I want to say you might know him from any number of places and then list off Nestor Carbonell's many screen roles over the past nearly 30 years, but I won't, because it's "Lost." You know him from "Lost." It would be silly not to first mention the fact that he was a star of one of the most talked- about shows of the past 15 years, playing Richard Alpert, member of the islander group The Others, from the third sea- son until the end of the series. It would be silly not only be- cause it's certainly his most recognizable role, but because it's likely how he got the "Bates Motel" gig. "Bates Motel" was the first major TV project Carl- ton Cuse took on after co-pro- ducing and co-writing "Lost." But there are other reasons you might know Carbonell. While he did spend a long time on "Lost" and "Bates," he spent an even longer time as a sup- porting star of the late-'90s sit- com "Suddenly Susan," playing photographer Luis Rivera. If your ears are particularly sharp, you might recognize him from his many voice roles, such as Señor Senior Jr. in the hit kids series "Kim Possible" or Savio in the more recent "Pen- guins of Madagascar" series. It's even possible, though not very likely, that you recognize him from his first-ever role, as Alberto Cordova in "As the World Turns" in the late '80s. continued on page T14
