The Campaign for a New Chapter House HONORING OUR PAST, BUILDING OUR FUTURE Rooms are small, outdated, and not current with competition. Gathering spaces should be welcoming for brothers and guests. Campaign Board members with a check for sale of the existing AGR chapter house, and standing at the site of the future home for AGR. A once-appealing roof deck has been a focus of repetitive, ongoing maintenance. HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems are past their useful life. Communal study should be integrated into the living space to encourage academic pursuits. "Committed to the Highest Standards" Our Needs "Our current house is lacking the tools for a suitable environment for our brothers to learn. A new house will provide our growing chapter with an up to date fraternity house with wide access to internet, increased living space, and larger common areas. These improvements will increase brotherhood and provide a comfortable living environment suitable for all." – Connor Brock, Noble Ruler I n addition to the current educational and leadership programming, a new house will stand as a legacy of our outstanding contribution to Alpha Gamma. Safety. The most important issue facing fraternities and sororities is the safety of residents. In our case, the design of the facility prevents practical solutions. The existing electrical does not adequately meet the needs of our brothers. Cooling and plumbing fixtures are in need of repair. The physical plant itself is deteriorating and is beyond any reasonable repair. Academics and Technology. To be competitive, a college facility must provide access to state-of- the-art technology. As academic standards have increased, so has the need for dedicated, quiet, and comfortable study space in addition to the social areas of the house. The current configuration of our facility does not allow for providing such space. A Competitive Edge. Alpha Gamma needs to attract the top men on campus to be a top-tier fraternity. Two other fraternities have undergone renovations, with others having future plans for improvements. In addition to competing with other fraternities, we must compete with new on-campus residence halls and off-campus apartments. Some private accommodations offer single rooms with private baths; walk-in closets; modern furniture; utilities, including internet; and a full gym. The university offers residence halls with suite-style living and dedicated academic and social areas. While we do not intend to provide such amenities, we recognize we're in need of dramatic improvements. The bottom line: Alpha Gamma must rededicate itself or we will lose our ability to be the preeminent social-professional fraternity at Florida and the best AGR chapter in the nation. RESEARCH CONFIRMS: The most important decisions (which ultimately impact their growth, academic performance, campus satisfaction) made by a new student on campus are: 1. Organization(s) they join 2. Their living environment
