PAGE 3 BETA THETA PI Excelling Across the Board Zeta Phi Reclaims First Place in Academics and Creates Leaders on Campus T he Zeta Phi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi continues to improve its already strong footprint at the University of Missouri campus. We are glad to carry on the strong tradition here and we are excited to see what the rest of the semester has in store for us. RECLAIMING FIRST PLACE We ended the fall semester in first place in grades among all IFC fraternities. Achieving a 3.393 house GPA along with the freshman class averaging a 3.545, we reclaimed first place across the board after losing to Phi Delt by .009 in Spring 2017. These averages are well above the all-male and all-university averages and we look to continue this trend into the spring. BETA PARTNERS WITH MISSOURI DOWN SYNDROME ADVOCATES This past fall, Brothers Nathan May '19 and Michael Moedritzer '19 created the Missouri Down Syndrome Advocates (MDSA), a service organization that aims to improve the lives of people and families with Down syndrome throughout the city of Columbia. Before Christmas, Zeta Phi welcomed the families of MDSA into our home and hosted a breakfast with Santa. Many brothers proudly volunteered their time for such a great cause. ZETA PHI CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT We are very excited to see so many brothers participating in organizations all around campus: Ethan Hayes '19 was elected to vice president of recruitment for the Interfraternity Council; Brooks Davis '20 and Jack Fink '21 were chosen to serve on the Alumni Association Student Board; Greg Watkins '19, Jimmy Ignaczak '19, and Nathan May '19 were selected to lead a Mizzou Alternative Break trip in the spring; Spencer Stapf '19 is a member of the Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis steering committee; and finally, Drew Rogers '19 has created Relevant Youth, a student-run creative ideation agency, to complement his already very successful entrepreneurship, The Bridge. THANK YOU, ALUMNI, FOR YOUR SUPPORT We are looking forward to a great end to the semester where we plan to stay atop the leaderboard in grades. The chapter would like to thank all alumni for their continued support and you are always welcome to come and visit the house.
