Omicron Chapter Always Alpha Phi Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Spring 2018 S isters, you probably agree that Omicron's chapter house plays a critical role in the building of sisterhood bonds. As such, we must ensure the house is equipped with enough gathering space for both in- and out-of-house members to bond, and meet the aesthetics and amenities expected by today's college students. These expectations may include a yoga room, dance/rehearsal space, fitness facility, study rooms, coffee bar, and a meeting space large enough to accommodate the entire active chapter. Managing a rolling financial plan allows the House Corporation Board to save money for house projects and potentially fund the renovation, rebuilding, or expansion of the facility. Projects could include adding private bedrooms or repurposing the third floor lounge. We've become creative with our space, including the annex, to provide a better live-in experience for Omicron members. We strive to compete with the new builds in Greektown and other premium housing options in Columbia. The House Corporation Board is in the process of soliciting feedback from active members to incorporate their ideas into our future plans. Here is what we've accomplished to date: STEP ONE: Pro Forma—Complete With the help of the finance and chapter advisors, the finance chairman and committee have developed a five-year rolling plan. This plan includes an estimation of future enrollment levels and an expectation of future Greek life participation at the University of Missouri, combined with retention of Omicron members. STEP TWO: Physical Structure Planning This step includes the review of three options drawn up by our architect to determine what kind of housing keeps Alpha Phi competitive and satisfies the needs expressed by the chapter members. We will then determine what is feasible based on our financial position. We hope to have this decision made by our April board meeting. In April, we will vote on new leadership at the House Corporation Board meeting. At that time, I will step down as president. I will, however, remain active on the board to maintain our momentum and ensure continuity. Board membership is very strong and diverse, and I am confident we will make progress into the summer, fall, and beyond. These are exciting times! Please stay tuned for more information as we progress through the strategic planning process.
