PRACTICING THE JORDAN STANDARD
Epsilon Kappa Attains Excellence in Philanthropy
T
he brotherhood has reached new heights
in our philanthropic endeavors, elected
a new executive board, grown our Chapter
membership, and outperformed in intramurals
this past semester. Although we have had to
navigate through new policy changes from
both the University and the Fraternity, we
have taken them well and will strive to leave
the Chapter in a better place for the men who
come after us.
Members Raise $34,000 for
Special Olympics
This past fall, we held our annual Derby Days
and reached a new record, raising $34,000
benefiting Special Olympics of Greater
Memphis. The Chapter also initiated 18 new
brothers from our fall 2017 pledge class and
recruited four new pledges for our spring class.
This is the first time the active Chapter has
participated in a formal recruitment process
in years.
Epsilon Kappa Remains
Leader on Campus
We outperformed many organizations in
intramurals this past semester. We took home
the championship for indoor soccer and are on
our way to our second consecutive basketball
championship. One of our brothers, Matthew
Mullins '19, went to the 2017 Tennessee
Intercollegiate State Legislature competition
in Nashville and presented a comprehensive
bill on the opioid epidemic in Tennessee.
Matthew won the Best Delegate award, which
is given to the most outstanding sponsor of a
piece of legislation from all of the schools in
Tennessee.
Thank You, Alumni
We are very proud of our accomplishments
that we have achieved this past semester and
are looking forward to reaching new heights
in everything that we do. The new executive
board, as well as the Chapter is eager to surpass
our philanthropic efforts for this next year,
nail down our new recruitment process, and
continue to win in intramurals. We encourage
alumni to stop by the Chapter House and visit
us at any time. We truly appreciate all that you
do for us and the example you set for what it
means to be a true Sigma Chi.
