How Can I Donate? Support the Campaign Today I f you have not yet made your gift or five-year pledge to the Pride in Our Past, Foundation for the Future: The New 238 E. Maxwell campaign, now is your chance. After surpassing our original goal of $400,000 thanks to our generous alumnae, we knew we could provide more for Beta Chi. Please be sure to address all tax-deductible gifts to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation and place Beta Chi in the memo. If you would like to pay by credit card, please visit www.kappa.org/ idonate/BetaChiHouse. For more information about recurring or automated payments, contact the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation at (614) 228-6515 and request to speak to someone about the Beta Chi chapter house. It is now easier than ever to reconnect with Beta Chi, and what better way to secure our legacy than with a donation of time and resources. Thank you to those who have already given. We could not have achieved such a great accomplishment without your support. A fter the first day of recruitment at the Beta Chi chapter house, Gretchen "Bunny" Nash-Gardner '73 immediately felt a connection to the sisterhood. "I remember thinking that I would like to spend more time with these women. Their genuine smiles and warmth carried on way past those initial meetings." Whether dancing through the halls of the chapter house, staying up late to study, or sharing special moments, sisters were always ready to support one another. For Bunny, these connections still have a lasting impact. "My time with Beta Chi was certainly a major in- fluence and a wonderful part of my formative years. I have learned so much from the women, the challenges, the insights, and the ex- periences that I had. I will be forever thankful for the opportunities allowed to me as a Kappa." Bunny challenges undergraduate members to take advantage of and savor all of the opportunities and experiences offered to them. Lead- ership positions, such as first vice president, provide valuable per- sonal lessons. "I believe I learned a lot about myself during this time, which helped me realize that making connections with and support- ing the people around me felt right for my interests and strengths." Ultimately, through inspiration and support from alumnae such as Dr. Virginia La Charite '50 and Ann Hall Atchison '50, Bunny found her career path. She began her journey as a graduate counsel- or at the University of Virginia because of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She even had the opportunity to start a new chapter in Charlottes- ville while working toward her master's in counseling. After a year at UVA, Bunny returned to Lexington to continue her graduate studies at the Universi- ty of Kentucky. While working with the Urban League as a counselor for women in non-traditional careers, a Beta Chi sister introduced her to Central Kentucky Re-Ed, a residential program for youth who have experienced challenges and adversity in a variety of settings. This includes roles as a high school counselor and children's counselor at the Louisville Spouse Abuse Center. Since then, Bunny has worked with Greater Clark County Schools as a teacher, principal, and counselor at a special education alternative school for students with emotional and behavioral challenges. Bunny has been a Safe Crisis Management instructor for 25 years and she has spent the last year working on her applied educational neuroscience certification at Butler University. Despite her busy schedule, Bunny still finds time to connect with her Beta Chi sisters. "I still regard my friends and the time I shared with them as such special and important parts of my life. I stay in close touch with many and share Facebook posts with others. Even after many years, I hold each of my sisters close to my heart." If alumnae have lost touch with their Beta Chi roots, the Pride in Our Past, Foundation for the Future: The New 238 E. Maxwell capital campaign is the perfect opportunity to reconnect. "There's no doubt that my time with Beta Chi has added to the person I have become. The diverse and varied women that I was privileged to spend my years with have added so much to my life." Bunny has been married to her husband, Dan, for 35 years after meeting through one of her Beta Chi sisters. They have two children, Alex and Elizabeth, and enjoy living in their old home in Louisville, Ky. She can be reached at bunnynash54@gmail.com.
