Delta Gamma
Foundation Luncheon
Highlights from Chapter's
Philanthropic Work
I
n December, the Delta Gamma Foundation held a luncheon,
where I gave a presentation on the active chapter's incred-
ible commitment to philanthropic work last year. Here are
some highlights:
• In 2017, Epsilon Chapter had a cumulative total of
2,325.25 service hours.
• We established a wonderful relationship with the Ohio
Living Westminster-Thurber Nursing Home in Columbus.
Our visits with the residents included a game night, root
beer ice cream social, passing out various holiday cards,
and decorating the nursing home for Christmas.
• We continued our service at the Ohio State School for the
Blind and feel fortunate that we are able to visit the
school as often as we choose. In October, we held our
annual Trick or Treat night for the students at OSSB.
Nearly 40 students visited our chapter house, spending
the evening trick-or-treating throughout our house,
decorating candy bags, eating treats, and playing a
mummy game. This event is truly an Epsilon favorite, and
everyone involved agreed that it was a lot of fun!
• Our sisters raised over $12,000 for the Delta Gamma
Foundation and Service for Sight last year through
various philanthropy events, including Anchor Splash,
Anchor Slam, DG BBQ, Smooch a Pooch, and Folgers
for Soldiers. The spring Anchor Splash tournament raised
about $5,000—nearly double the profits from spring
2016! Additionally, our Anchor Slam tournament brought
in over $7,000 from 75 teams.
• Epsilon women volunteered at the Ohio chapter of the
National Federation for the Blind's annual convention in
Columbus, which was held at the end of October. Half of
our Anchor Slam proceeds were donated to the
organization.
I am proud of our sisters' philanthropic accomplishments over
the past few semesters and look forward to what we achieve
this year.
