Some years, multiple scholarships can be given. The number of scholarships given varies depending on what is earned from fund raisers. One benefit that existed for about twenty-five years was that students were also eligible to be recommended for the state level scholarship from California Garden Club Inc. Ten students from Tehama County also won the state level scholarship. When looking back forty years to the beginning of presenting scholarship, it was learned that Garden Club made small items from fresh pines and baked goods and held plant sales to earn the needed funds for a scholarship. At this time, Garden Club's primary fund raising event is the Scholarships Christmas Boutique that will be held in the old Holiday Market at 616 Cedar Street on December 6, 7 & 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. Garden club members design wreaths and swags for doors or walls and arrangements for dinner tables, coffee tables, or fireplace mantels. Everything is created from fresh plant material gathered from the members gardens and the gardens of friends and neighbors. The best part is that the customer can select what plant material is used from a wide variety of conifers such as pines, firs, spruce, junipers or redwood. Broadleaf trees such a magnolia, holly, laurel and bay are also available to added to the designs or wreaths. Customers can specify the color of ribbons and select from a variety of decorative items such as cones, berries, feathers, birds etc. to be added to each wreath or design. If something special is desired a custom order is a good idea and can be accomplished by calling or 526-4578. Come and see what we have to offer and help with providing college scholarship to Tehama County high school students Red Bluff Garden Club welcomes the public attend programs. The regular meeting is on the last Tuesday of most months and we always have a program but we do not have a regular meeting in December.
