Sprouse named employee of the Year 2017 Special to NWa Democrat-Gazette Kathryn Sprouse, a physical therapist in the Physical Medicine Department at Washington Regional Medical Center, recently was named Washington Regional Employee of the Year 2017. Selected from the 12 employee of the month candidates in a system-wide vote of Washington Regional employees, Sprouse will be featured on the Leadership Wall in the medical center lobby and will receive: • $2,500 • 40 hours of paid time off • Engraved clock • Dinner gift certificate • Reserved parking spot throughout 2018 Sprouse, who has been with Washington Regional since 1999, was recognized for seeing the potential in each patient, regardless of how sick or injured they may be. According to the nomination, which was submitted by a peer, she is passionate about patient care and gives 100 percent to each patient, always asking if here is anything else she can do to help. Vann achieves certification as advanced neurovascular Practitioner Special to NWa Democrat-Gazette Sara E. Vann, MS, PA-C, ANVP-BC, Stroke Program Physician Assistant at Washington Regional Medical Center, recently achieved designation as an Advanced Neurovascular Practitioner-Board Certified. To earn this credential, she was required to meet certain eligibility guidelines and pass a nationally administered exam. Vann, who joined Washington Regional in 2015, earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., and a master's degree in physician assistant studies from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She earned certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Arkansas Academy of Physician Assistants, Association of Neurovascular Clinicians, Neurocritical Care Society and American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association. Special to NWa Democrat-Gazette There is a lot going on this Spring at the Fayetteville Senior Activity and Wellness Center. April will feature the first ever "Friends and Flowers" contest. Get three or four of your friends together and form a team. Your team will be given a section of the patio flower beds at the Senior Center and will compete against other teams for the best bed, with prizes for the winners. Supplies will be provided. April will also be the start of the Tuesday Talks program, where different groups and individuals will speak on important senior topics each week on Tuesday, at 11 a.m., in the center's main room. Spring is the perfect time to come participate in any of the 25 exercise classes per week, including yoga, Pilates, Use it or Lose it, and Line Dancing. Enjoy one of the home-cooked meals prepared daily on-site in the kitchen and don't miss live music every Friday morning. Volunteers of all ages are an essential part of the Fayetteville Senior Center. A great deal of the volunteer work in the Meals on Wheels Program and the Senior Center Facility is done by senior volunteers who want to give back in their community. Whether you just turned 60, or you've been a senior for decades, there is something for everyone at the Fayetteville Senior Activity and Wellness Center. Fayetteville Senior Activity and Wellness Center, located at 945 S. College, is conveniently situated near historic downtown Fayetteville and offers an array of activities to engage the senior citizens of the community. The 12 year-old center boasts a fitness center, dining hall and kitchen, exercise/yoga room, art/game room, library, outdoor patio seating area, and garden. There are plenty of activities to keep any visitor engaged and having fun. The Fayetteville Senior Activity and Wellness Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
