ACCEPT A CHALLENGE
A New Way to Follow Your Old Friends
I
am always amazed how well our Alpha Delta
Chapter manages their social media. When I follow
them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, I am always
impressed by their creativity and energy. At our recent
House Corporation meeting, we discussed how we too
can do a better job of staying connected. This newsletter
is one way, but because it is biyearly, we miss a lot of
the current information that is so important in being
involved in the lives of our sisters. Within a 10-minute
span executed by sisters much younger than me, the
Facebook page, Phi Mu–Alpha Delta All Alumnae,
was created. Thirty-six hours later, we had over 1,000
members—how is that for connection! If you haven't
already, please join us by searching for the group name.
At that same meeting we decided to have an alumnae
component added to the current parent's weekend on
April 12-14. Bonnamu will be held at the Lyric on the
night of Thursday, April 12, and we will have activities
throughout the weekend that will add to the fun. On
Saturday, April 14 we will have an alumnae meeting
in the chapter room at 2 p.m. I hope you will all mark
your calendars and come. My college crew has already
committed. I challenge you to get a group together for
this event!
At press time for this newsletter, we all learned of the
death of Shellye Stanley McCarty '65, one of the most
dedicated sisters from our Chapter. She understood
connection and sisterhood and she lived her life
promoting not only our Chapter but Phi Mu overall.
The Alpha Delta Chapter deserves a strong, cohesive
alumnae Chapter. Phi Mu is a strong force on this Ole
Miss campus and it is time that we help by being a
strong force off the Ole Miss campus as well. Shellye
would have been the first one to RSVP. We will be
waiting to hear from you.
