The department previ- ously had five cameras, which were rotated among sworn staff while on duty since being pur- chased in April. "We have been period- ically testing the body worn cameras for several months and believe there city's risk management group strongly supported the purchase to guard against false or erroneous complaints against police personnel that can cause expensive lawsuits. The cameras also allow the department to take corrective action against police officers.
