Delta Gamma page 3 T he women of Tau Chapter stayed busy last fall and are maintaining our momentum this spring. Upon welcoming 57 outstanding new members, bringing a new house director into our home, and continuously growing in our sisterhood, we look forward to our spring Scholarship Brunch and Anchor Splash in April. TAU CHAPTER RAISES MORE THAN $2,700 In mid-October, we held our fall philanthropy event, Dunkin' with the ΔΓs. We set up shop on the T. Anne Cleary Walkway and sold cof- fee and donuts to passersby for $5. With each event we hold, the women of Tau Chapter continue to grow in their personal relation- ships with Service for Sight and overall phi- lanthropy. Through Dunkin' with the ΔΓs, we raised more than $2,700 benefiting Service for Sight and the National Federation of the Blind. We couldn't have asked for a better event! SISTERS BEGIN SCHOLAR OF THE WEEK PROGRAM Our Chapter GPA remains above the under- graduate average for the university and at the forefront of our priorities. We started Scholar of the Week this year to recognize our sisters and their outstanding academic achievements. This new positive programming was the idea of our scholarship chairman, Sarah Kend- eigh '14. Sarah asked that each week mem- bers send in nominations of sisters who have been performing above and beyond in the classroom. Sisters awarded with this honor were gifted T-shirts for them to prominently display their accomplishment. The women of Tau continue to achieve both in and out of the classroom. CHAPTER LEADS SUCCESSFUL SISTERHOOD EVENTS Throughout the semester we celebrated and grew in our sisterhood by hosting and attend- ing many different events. During Homecom- ing week, Delta Gamma was aptly represented in Iowa Shout by members of our freshman and sophomore classes. Caroline Carlson '15 planned a fun-filled Dad's Weekend with bowling at Colonial Lanes and watching the Hawkeyes almost beat Penn State. At our fall scholarship brunch, Emily Brekke '16 re- ceived the Melissa Ann Brendes Scholarship for her academic success and commitment to Delta Gamma. In November, we held our annual sisterhood retreat at Kinnick Stadium inside the MediaCom press box. Getting to spend time with our sisters with a great view of the field was a great experience that was a highlight of the fall semester. We thank each and every alumna of Tau Chapter for her continuous support! I would like to invite any alumnae, family, or friends to visit the Chapter house and meet our won- derful members, especially as we prepare for Anchor Splash in April.
