The Beacon 2 T he Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega is already busy diving into the new semester. With a new executive committee ready to take the reins, we expect 2018 to be even more successful than 2017. We initiated 43 men from the fall 2017 pledge class and we are excited to welcome them as brothers. Making a Difference Our chapter is always looking for ways it can give back to the community, and because of that, we are hosting an anti-hazing seminar on campus for all Greek councils to attend. Fraternities across the country are in a fragile state, but our chapter and the OU Greek system have taken a stand not to be a part of the problem. Strong Recruitment As we start the spring semester, we are excited to welcome a record number of 19 spring new members. In a time where fraternities are shrinking in size and less men are wanting to be a part of a fraternity, we've recruited well and kept growing. Our chapter now boasts a total membership of more than 200 members, making us one of the largest on campus. Our commitment to our founding values and recruiting men who we think would represent them well has led to our good reputation and appeal to recruits, year-in and year-out. Delta Kappa Welcomes 19 Spring New Members Chapter to Host Anti-Hazing Seminar for OU Greek Community Our spring 2018 new members. Academic Excellence Academically, the Delta Kappa Chapter held its highest mark this past semester. Collectively, our membership had a 3.21 GPA, while our new members had a 3.22 GPA, both significantly higher than the all-men's average. We are extremely proud of the individuals who posted high marks and that our membership takes excelling in the classroom seriously. Chapter House Improvements Around the chapter facility, we are always looking for ways to improve and take care of where we live. This semester, we have already purchased a shed for the backyard and are expecting to build a basketball court sometime later this semester. A basketball court has been something that our chapter has wanted for the past several semesters, and now it will be a reality. Overall, Delta Kappa is thriving. We want to continue to be a force on OU's campus and produce men of true merit.
