Al- most every RV park has a musical "jam" night and the Quartzsite Im- provement Association (QIA) has two very special events coming up. FEBRUARY 14th Valentine's Day. A day for lov- ers and loved. What better way to celebrate than a delicious dinner, prepared and served, no effort on your part, and no cleaning up af- terwards? Add an evening of lovely music, taking you back to the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Dancing if you wish. All at the Desert Sky Theater, the QIA, Feb. 14th 7 pm. This will feature Wade Hammond who says "I sing for Baby Boom- ers and older." His music brings back memories of an era of tuneful, Music in the desert harmonious music; you'll be saying "remember when?" and "where were we then?" He says he's not an impersonator but you'll recognize many songs and singers from a while ago. He has won many awards: twice Entertainer of The Year and three #1 hits; he's sold out in Las Vegas and was at the Grand Ole' Opry in October. How does he end up in Quartzsite? He says he heard about it "all over" and then drove through. "I've never seen any- thing like it. I thought I'd never get through the place." He and his wife of 26 years travel in a Win- nebago when he's performing. His family, fi ve kids, reside in Alabama. Tickets are available for dinner and show, separately or together; celebrate Valentine's Day with an evening of music and great food. Call the QIA( 928-927-6325) for more information. BERNIE AND RED, FEB. 20th Last year we used all the superla- tives available to describe Bernie and Red. " Zany. Outrageous. Hilarious. Comedic genius . Then there's their musical talent: glori- ous, gorgeous." This year they'll bring a different, equally enter- taining program to the Quartzsite Improvement Association's "Desert Sky Theater" February 20th 7p.m. And again there are no words that are adequate. Red's imitations include an over- loaded, ancient diesel truck grind- ing up a mountain, or a cruise ship toilet fl ushing! She "does" animals, vocally and physically (!) until the audience is gasping with laughter. Red goes huffi ng and puffi ng around the stage, cas- tigating men in general, Bernie in particular; Bernie, slyly, whispers to the audience, "for 51 years…." Yes, this marriage of comedic ge- niuses has endured for 51 years and he's probably laughed WITH her all that time. Bernie narrates as Red imitates. He says, "Once we got married we discovered we could make beautiful music together." Last winter they played 15 con- certs in Texas, then 20 in Arizona and California. They have raised close to $30,000 for fi ghting child- hood cancer. In the summer they tend their blueberry crop in Can- ada then go to Liverpool, England for their annual visit. They may be from England but they understand us and they understand RVing. You'll never forget this entertain- ing evening.
