4A Daily News – Thursday, November 15, 2012 Pastimes High school to present Cinderella Waltz Arts & entertainment College to celebrate veterans Dec. 7 This semester's Shasta College Humanities Through Film class in Red Bluff will present a free war-themed film festival entitled "America at War: Honoring the Great Ones." The event honors all veterans, past and present, and the struggles they have endured defending our freedom. The students chose this important date as it is Pearl Harbor Day. Admission is free and complimentary refreshments will be made available. The films will have an intermission at 3:30 p.m., during which the Young Marines will perform. The Re-enactors of the American Civil War will be pre- sent and participating and guests can view military displays in the Community Refreshment Room. The festival kicks off 1-6 p.m. at the Shasta College Tehama Campus, 770 Diamond Ave., Red Bluff, with the following films: "Tora, Tora, Tora," "We Were Soldiers," "Gettysburg," "Flags of Our Fathers," "Patton," "The Patriot," "The Hurt Locker," "Hamburger Hill," "Pork Chop Hill" and "The Lost Battalion." The students will have a donation jar available in the refreshment room for those who wish to donate to the recovery of the Manton fire victims. University to host Exposure Film Festival Simpson University will present its 7th annual Exposure Film Festival on Friday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. The festival, open to the public, will feature seven short films produced by Simpson University students. It will be held in the Heritage Student Life Center on campus, 2211 College View Drive. Guests are invited to walk the red carpet prior to the event. Doors will open by 7:40 p.m. Dutch Bros. will provide discounted drinks to festival attendees while they wait in line. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5, in advance online at simpsonu.edu/exposure or at the Simpson University Bookstore on the first floor of the Owen Student Services Center during normal business hours. University's faculty and staff will evaluate the films, which are under 10 minutes long. The winner of Best Picture will receive $500. Other categories include Best Editing, Best Director, Best Actor/Actress, Best Cine- matography and Best Christian Message. This amateur film festival is designed to spotlight the Judges from the Redding community and Simpson works of Simpson University students and to give them an opportunity to express themselves through the medi- um of motion picture.
